What's ahead? THIS
is what we have to look forward to:

Has there been
a film in the Land of Crowe as eagerly anticipated as The
Far Side of the World? Probably not after today! Here we get our
first look at Capt. Jack Aubrey, and he's a mighty fine officer indeed!
In the meantime...
read the
article that accompanied the photo!
Batten down the hatches and stay tuned!
THANK YOU,
AfterDarkQT for the fabulous Capt. Jack!

And the winner is...
R U S
S E L L C R O W E
who will always
be our hero, Oscar or not, for his courage, intellect, talent, and most
especially, his big beautiful heart! THANK
YOU, Russell, for your unforgettable performance in A Beautiful
Mind!

"You
know, a dream like this seems kind of vaguely ludicrous and completely
unattainable. But this moment is directly connected to those childhood
imaginings. And for anybody who's on the down side of advantage and
relying purely on courage, it's possible."

"...I’m
such a combination of things, there’s Maori in there, there’s Italian, Scottish
- there’s a lot of things fighting for attention. All the warrior races,
I might add." - Russell Crowe
WELCOME to Russell
Crowe's Barbarian Horde,
a site by fans of Russell Crowe FOR the fans of Russell Crowe!
We don't mess around
here... we adore him, in all his scruffy in-your-face flannel-wearin'
beer drinkin' bird-flippin' glory, and we'll follow him always,
shield in hand, sword at the ready!
And now...
the first of 30 odd disclaimers:
Rome
wasn't built in a day...and neither was this page, which is
graphics heavy...so chill out! It's loading! No wuckin' forries!
...and if you see one of those ghastly
little red "x"s that are so annoying, reload the bastard!
Want
more disclaimers? You got it!

Yeah, so...?
I've seen it all before...ANYTHING
NEW?

Crowe: NOT for the faint of heart *

OL' DISCLAIMER: The

of this website is not associated in any way with Russell
Crowe or 30 Odd Foot of Grunts. Period. Furthermore, this entire website was
created solely for the use and entertainment of Russell Crowe's fans. And while
some of the content may cause the casual observer to think that we, his fans,
take what happens to him and what happens in his private life personally, it's
only a hobby, folks. Some people fish; some people play golf; some people knit,
crochet, play backgammon, chess, needlepoint, watch football, hockey, travel
great distances to spend exorbitant amounts of money on rare antiques / expensive
cigars / fine wine / delicate lace; some people read poetry, play bridge, bowl,
are active in politics, ride horses, breed dogs, grow tomatoes, prune roses,
or just sit in front of the television and veg. We talk about Russell Crowe.
Not all of the time. But some of the time. We still have jobs we excel in, husbands
we cherish, children we protect and treasure, lovers we make love to, families
we fight with, friends we cry with, other hobbies we're obsessed with, etc.;
we still prepare meals and feed the dogs and travel to Europe and have babies
and, yes, some of us bravely fight off cancer and maintain a sense of humor
while living with lupus. We do indeed have lives (so don't say it), but we've
chosen to preserve a little corner of our existence for this talented, fascinating,
charismatic man, a little space that's just our own, and that we share collectively.
Now, if that don't say it all, I don't know what will.

In Memoriam
The thousands
taken from us on September 11th will never be forgotten. But if one photograph
sticks in my mind and represents the horror and tragedy and sorrow of that
day, it's the one of the man falling through the air after jumping from the
burning World Trade Center. Mercifully I was unable to find the photo that
probably inspired this poem; it's so disturbing that, I've read, that people
who have seen it have been traumatized by it. But no tribute can be more evocative
than this poem by the Nobel Prize-winning poet Wislawa Szymborska.

A Photograph
From September 11
by
Wislawa Szymborska
They jumped from
the burning storeys, down
-- one, two, a few more
higher, lower.
A photograph captured them while they were alive
and now preserves them
above ground, towards the ground.
Each still whole
with their own face
and blood well hidden.
There is still time,
for their hair to be tossed,
and for keys and small change
to fall from their pockets.
They are still in the realm of the air,
within the places
which have just opened.
There are only two things I can do for them
-- to describe this flight
and not to add a final word |
Thanks
to Hard to Handle for bringing this to our attention at the Crowe's Perch.
So that we never forget:
