INHIBITORY PROCESSES AS REGULATORY MECHANISM

(1) It is always nice to know.
(2) Knowing how our mental processes work may help people with brain lesions or diseases that damage the brain.
(3) The study of cognitive psychology has important practical applications in the real world (human factors, ergonomy, human-machine interaction, artificial intelligence, etc.).
Three assumptions of cognitive psychology:
(1) Mental processes exist
(2) Humans are ACTIVE information processors
(3) Mental processes can be identified through the use of behavioral measures
