Please, no duplicating, copying, or distribution without my consent. -------------------------------------------------------------- As the rain falls down from the skies I began to wonder how Just everything came to be the way it is Everything, right here, right now As the rain pitter-pats against the roof I stare at the world below Through the hazy curtain of falling rain Just a few things I do know As the rain slides down from the leaves The birds have stopped their song And the silence continues, deadly slow Stretching even as the day grows long As the rain makes puddles on the street Making ripples along the path I watch the sky for lightning spikes Trying to avoid their deadly wrath As the rain slides down the clear, smooth glass I shake my head and sigh For nobody has ever stopped to ask How I feel about things and why And as the rain stops and tapers off To a mere sprinkling from the sky My wondering ceases to persist Stopping, despite how hard I’ve tried
