Bob Jacobs

Life Master Bob Jacobs

Bob Jacobs is a Life Master who has been the Missouri state champion many times, most recently in 1996 when he scored a perfect 5-0. Bob can also be found on the USCF Top 50 List for Players over 65. Bob is one of the most active chess players in St. Louis.

I'd have to say, though, that Bob has been even more successful at correspondence chess than he has been over the board. Bob tied for first in the US Chess Federation's 1972 Golden Knights Correspondence Championship and won outright the very first USCF Absolute Championship of Correspondence Chess in 1976, an invitational tournament of the top correspondence players in the country. He has played many games in international correspondence tournaments and recently achieved the difficult feat of obtaining the title of International Master of Correspondence Chess. So far as I know Bob, along with Michael Brooks who is an International Master of over-the-board chess, are the only two players in Missouri with international titles.

An article about Bob and several of his correspondence games are featured in the June 1998 issue of the Missouri Chess Bulletin. Unlike most players Bob often submits losses when asked for games.
