Class Novel Units

From the beginning of time human beings have told stories. These stories teach us, entertain us, and connect us. Fiction is the evolution of these early stories. The New York State Board of Regents recommends that all students read at least 25 books per year. Many (though certainly not all) of those books will be read as part of English classes and many of those will be works of fiction. Reading these books offers the chance to travel through time, to lose ourselves in different worlds and to experience life in ways we simply cannot in any other way.
The novels below are just a small sample of works this year's 9th grade students will have the opportunity to challenge. For more titles from a list of recommended works from the NYS Board of Regents click here.
