"You what?!?!" Taylor cried.
Jen laughed. "I got you a date with Kate Bensen." She repeated.
"But, but....How?" Taylor sputtered. For as long as he could remember Taylor had been in love with Kate. Only Jen knew about it but nothing had ever become of his secret crush. You see, Kate had no clue. Taylor closed his eyes and conjured up a picture of her. She was a cute girl with long blond hair that fell down her back and bright blue eyes. Freckles lightly dusted over her button nose. She wasn't exactly a model but to Taylor she was just fine. As Mrs. Hanson put it, "She was a cute girl with a homely atmosphere around her." Maybe it was her eyes that Taylor liked best. They were the kind that seemed to look right through you and into your soul.
"Well you see, I was VERY tired of hearing you complain all the time about not having a girlfriend cuz you don't have time, and I know how you're in love with her, so......."
"So.....So??????" Taylor pleaded. "Tell me!"
Jen rolled her eyes. "Calm down. Anyway so I called Brian. See his friend, Drew, is her brother so Brian, being the NICE guy he is, asked Drew to ask Kate if she would go out with you and it seems she likes you too so she said yes so now you have a date. Me, you, Brian, and Kate are going to double-date tonight." She smiled widely. "I know, I know I'm a great friend!"
Taylor wrapped her in a hug. "Have I ever told you I love you?"
Jen laughed. "Hey thank Brian. He's the one who did it." What she didn't mention is that she had to beg him to get him to call.
"Yeah right. The day I thank him is the day he falls off the earth."
"It's great to know the two most important guys in my life hate each other." Jen frowned. "Just give him a chance."
"Fine. I'll be nice."
"Promise?"
"Scouts honor!" Taylor raised to fingers in the boy scout sign.
"Thank you. Well anyway I have to go get ready. We'll pick you up at 7:00." She started out of his room.
"Okay. Bye! And Jen..." She turned back.
"Yeah?"
Taylor smiled. "Thanks."
