... Windows Menu Part 1 ...
As he teaches, so he learns.

... Recommend this page to a friend.

Here's a large section, I think somewhat comprehensive, but with tips for both Windows95, and Windows98. Which apply to your system I'll leave to you. I wasn't sure how to set this up right in that this "menu" section was too long to put on one page. So the obvious solution was to make two pages.

But that led to another problem: How would you be able to use the "Edit, Find in Page" feature (or Ctrl + F) where you would type in one important word and click Find. This was discussed in the Introduction page; the word you might be looking for might be on the second page of this menu. So we have a problem.

Solution: Here I would again suggest either scrolling down "just looking" and then going to the next menu page, or use the Find in Page feature on both this and the next page. What can I say (I only put half the links on this page, there was no room).

MAKING CHANGES IN THE REGISTRY

The registry is a newspaper in Des Moines. No, that's "The Register." My mistake. Think of the registry as an informant, the kid we used to beat up in school, telling the teacher what's attached to your computer, what options have been set up, which applications will run at start up, etc. You know, kind of like the neighborhood know-it-all who tells everyone on your block that you play with dolls. Okay, maybe it's not quite the same thing, but you get the idea. You've most likely made changes to the registry without realizing it. Anytime you add or remove a proggie from your system, the registry is changed. Damage it directly and you'll probably have to reinstall Windows. On one hand we say only experts should play with the registry, but on the other hand how else will we learn?

Seriously: Many tips involve meddling with the Windows Registry which isn't child's play; you can righteously muck up your system if you don't know what you're doing. So above all, make sure to ... Back Up Your Registry ... before you begin. Consider yourself warned ... that's right, it's a link, so use it. It's not there to add color.
