Communication Environment The most essential difference between the multimedia communication model and the written communication model is the communication environment. While the written communication environment is, of course, print media, the multimedia communication environment consists of a computer monitor, and the media that can be presented in that environment. One can present various elements on a computer monitor: text, video, graphics, and audio. Learning to successfully present information in an electronic format is the most critical factor to becoming multimedia literate. "When one can overcome the tendency to think that communication can only occur in a stable medium, such as books, magazines, television, movies, and computer applications, slide presentations, and so on, it is possible to appreciate how all these media mingle and transform in a multimedia communication environment" (Heba 131). |
