Walter Ong Walter J. Ong is retired from Saint Louis Universidy, Missouri, where he was a University Professor of Humanities and Professor of Humanities in Psychiatry. During his long career, Ong created a rather large body of work through which he spent most of his time investigating and writing about the relationship between orality to literacy.
