The IDS Financial Services Project

IDS Financial Services, Minneopolis, Minnesota, hired an independent multimedia development team to create an online training program that would be delivered through the company's Intranet system. The program's objective is to explain to employees financial concepts associated with mutual fund transactions through a series of eight animations.

The team developed a system in which color and motion bring abstract concepts to life through easily controlled animations that are delivered on demand through an Electronic Performance Support System network connected to employees computers. Using this strategy, formal staff training operations are minimized and information is delivered in context directly from the employee's workstation.
