The Dream
Around the turn of the century,
life became very good for most people. Markets were in ship shape condition, technology was advancing rapidly and bigger, faster and better ships were being built, in particular, The Lusitania,(right)which had already set speed records. White Star Line had to do something to reflect the attention of passenger liners towards them.
Then Titanic was born.Titanic was to be a marvel of a floating palace, with the best of elegance in transportation. She was to have 16 watertight compartments in which she could stay afloat with 4 floaded in case there were to be an unlikely accident, they would save the luxury liner. Titanic was equiped with a double layered iron hull, which made her know as "unsinkable".She even had the latest in wireless communications and a telephone.
