BIOGRAPHY OF DR. RAMAZAN KAHRAMAN

Dr. Ramazan Kahraman received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey, in 1986, graduating with High Honors standing and ranking first in class.  He received his M.S. in May 1988 (GPA: 3.88/4.00) and Ph.D. in May 1993 (GPA: 4.00/4.00) from Montana State University both in Chemical Engineering.  He took supporting courses in Mechanical Engineering during his Ph.D. study.

Dr. Kahraman has been teaching in the Department of Chemical Engineering at KFUPM since September 1993 (as an Associate Professor since 1/11/1999).  He has taught many undergraduate and graduate courses at different levels and areas of specialization including "Introduction to Chemical Engineering", "Thermodynamics", "Fluid Mechanics", "Heat Transfer", "Mass Transfer", "Chemical Engineering Computing Laboratory", "Corrosion", "Polymer Technology", "Materials Evaluation and Selection", "Senior Design Project", "Integrated Design Course" and "Transport Phenomena: A Unified Approach".  He has been nominated for the Excellence in Teaching Award for four years and for the Excellence in Advising Award for two years.

Dr. Kahraman is actively involved in many funded and independent research projects in the areas of polymer composites, chemical and mechanical characterization of materials, corrosion, and transport phenomena.  He has over 60 journal and conference publications.  He received the Distinguished Researcher Award for the academic year 2000/01 (based on the research record in the previous four years) .

Dr. Kahraman was also involved in many working committees (in various areas from textbook selection to symposium/workshop organizations) at the University, College and Departmental levels.
