Katti sat for several minutes looking at the closed screen. What just took place she told herself. Nothing seemed right. Nothing seemed true. It was right IRC was a playground for taking advantage of feelings. It was all lie's. She didn't understand why she had been the victim here but she was. Tears ran down her cheeks. Katti felt like she had been violated, like her insides were hung out to dry in the hot sun.
Someguy had just confessed that he had been lying to her from the very start. He was not married nor was he really in Jordan. He lived in New York, in Brooklyn. He didn't have a wife nor any kids. He just led her on that way hoping to not get involved. But he was telling her he was not in love with her, wanted to spend his life with her. Wanting to marry her. How was all this possible. He confessed that he was about to go back to Jordan and that he wanted to meet her and marry her before he left. God! how stupid did he take her for. Why should she beleive anything. It appeared that he didn't know what the truth was. It was a game to him he said. He didn't expect to fall in love with an American girl. He didn't expect to miss her so damn much. He just wanted to keep it all seperated, yet he spent hours each night, days and weeks talking to her. He told her stories of his family, right down to little stories about his children. She thought she was sharing with him he thought he was the KING of the GAME. Some game she thought.
Katti turned away from the computer and walked into the kitchen, water
seemed to be the object of her reach. Her throat was dry and her eyes were
swollen from crying. What did she ever do in her life to deserve this treatment.
God must really hate her and be punishing her for her sins. Taking two
asprins she slipped into the shower. Feeling the hot water spray against
her head...and shoulders the pain of her head seemed to ease a bit.
Thoughts ran through her mind....thoughts of past conversations with
Someguy and ohhh to set the record straight he told her his name. Besher......
"Well Besher you have hurt me all you are going to hurt me. Never again will this happen" she told herself "never again."
A week passed, Katti did not go near the computer, infact not even to
work. Her mind was in turmoil. She spent the afternoons watching and sometimes
talking to little Heather.
Heather her daughter, her salvation, yet she negelected the daughter
that she loved so much. How in gods name was she going to win back Heathers
love.
Late one night several days later Katti picked up the phone and dialed
the Michigan number. An answering machine came on and Alexandria's voice
calmly spoke and said to leave a number and someone would get back to her.
Someone...why she thought did people say someone. Katti didn't want to
talk to someone she wanted to talk to AnAngel.
Speaking into the phone she left her name and number. Sitting
there Katti had to talk to
someone she dialed her mother-inlaws number. The voice came on,
"hello"
"hello Donna" pausing a few seconds then continuing "it's Katti"
"How are you my dear?" Donna was glad to hear from Katti but detected something was wrong.
"Fine" Katti replied "just wanted to ask about Hearther"
"Well now she is fine, as you know. I see you everyday sitting there in the park. I don't know why you don't just stop in Katti. Heather will be so much better off if you let her know who you are."
"Oh God Donna! I can't do that just now. I wish I could be stronger
but I am not, I am weak. I love her so much if she rejected me I don't
know what I would do."
They talked for about an hour. Katti careful not to say anything that
she did not wish to let Donna know. She talked a bit about her work and
Donna shared stories of Heather.
Katti felt at ease just a bit when she hung up with Donna. Some of
the stories that Donna told her had Katti laughing out loud. Like when
Heather opened up her lunch at school to find a garden snake in the lunchbox.
Heather had screamed so much, the teacher had reported to her that a little
boy in the school was going around playing pranks.
