I called the taxi company. I know enough spanish to let them know that I supported their drivers being armed. They also put an english speaking person on that said that the driver was still employed but was taking some time off to recover emotionally. I told them that I owned a pizza delivery store and that I allow and encourage my drivers to be armed for their protection and that a company policy that tells the bad guys that you drivers are easy pickings is a bad idea. She agreed and i got the impression that armed taxi drivers are on a don't ask don't tell basis at the least.
She seemed to appreciate the concern for the safty of the drivers and the inquiry about the health of the driver. She also was glad to hear my support of armed drivers.
