Subject: McNulty's new documentary
I attended the preview in Washington yesterday. My reactions are split between "damn good" and "needs a little more punch." I think it's definitely a worthy successor to the first film.
Major features (the following are simply dry textual summaries of the major points):
ATF went berserk after the raid. Footage of a press videocameraman being beaten and kicked as agents shout "GET THE ___ OUTA HERE!"
Shooting of Michael Schroeder, a Davidian who was not in the building, tried to return, and ran into an ATF team about 300 yds away. A firefight ensured, he went down with numerous hits. After his companion was arrested and led away, the companion heard two shots. Among Schroeder' wounds were two shots behind the right ear.
Davidians before the fire managed a cellular call to Steve Schneider's sister, in which they discuss the Book of Nahab, which mentions divine fire as protecting the faithful against an attack by the enemy.
March 11 letter from acting Atty Gen Gerson to Clinton, recommending he relieve Sessions as head of FBI, because he lacked the gumption to handle matters. Floyd Clarke, his deputy, began to angle for the job and undercut his boss by portraying himself as the guy with energy and toughness.
Horiuchi led the "Blue Team" of snipers, stationed at Sierra One (in front). After the fire, fired .308 cartridges were found in his position (photo of one is shown in place).
Spec. Forces witness David Barry goes on camera to say that Delta people told him they were creeping into the building at night to plant listening devices, and at one point were within six feet of Koresh in the darkness. They radioed back a request to grab him, but were told that Justice had its own place. This was 1-2 nights before fire.
Photos of pyrotechnic flash bang 40mm projectiles outside the building, but with indications that they passed thru building before they landed.
The hole in the bunker (I still consider this the most tenuous of arguments... that an explosion can penetrate concrete is no news, but until we rule out the most obvious possibility--effect of incredible heat on poor concrete, I'm reluctant to go to a different one). The concrete vault or bunker, where the Davidian children were trying to hold out, ended the fire with a hole in its ceiling. Gen. Partin says it appears to be result of an explosive charge atop the structure. Bodies beneath the hole are badly mangled, flesh stripped off legs, cut in half, etc.
FLIR evidence of gunshots during the fire. Strong evidence here, and a solid rebuttal of gov't claim that the flashing objects seen on infrared tape aren't gunshots but sunlight flashes. That is pretty well demolished.
Vince Foster--very strong evidence (i.e., statements of his wife, his secretary, and a Secret Serviceman) is presented that Foster was the White House link for executing the plan, and reported to Hillary. He was extremely upset over the deaths of the children, and remarked that FBI lied to him. After his death, Hillary's chief of staff removed the Waco file from his office for Hillary's "review," and it has since vanished.
