This from Matt Cherry:

The new Council for Secular Humanism website is now online at www.secularhumanism.org. Its official relaunch is on December 25--the fourth anniversary to the day of its original launch. So the next week is a chance to make final improvements and changes before we broadcast its existence to the world. Please send any comments and suggestions to me (I am the new "editor" for our website). The focus to date has been on getting the website up-to-date and functional. Some improvements to the aesthetics are still in the pipeline.

We have also switched to a new and better ISP. One immediate benefit of this change is that the site can now guarantee secure credit card transactions thanks to the new host's encryption system.

Thanks and congratulations are owed to our new webmaestro Terese Rozelle (send appreciation to: CFIWestTR@aol.com). In addition to managing this site, Terry is the Office Manager for the Center for Inquiry West (her site at www.cfiwest.org has been up for several months now). Terry has been working flat out to get this new site up and running.

A huge debt of thanks is also owed to our retiring webmaster Dave Noelle. Dave has been responsible for the website since its inception in 1995, and has done an incredible job of developing a very attractive and useful website (recently rated the best website for non-theists by, if I remember correctly, Newsweek). Dave not only took care of all the technical stuff but he did a wonderful job of making a coherent website out of the constant barrage of information sent to him by all the myriad programs and departments at the Council.

Once the new site is running smoothly and a few obvious information gaps are plugged (e.g. back issues of Secular Humanist Bulletin), we will start exploring new areas that the site can develop, new functions that it can fulfill, and new needs that it could meet. Your ideas on all of these are also welcome.

And while I am promoting new websites, please check out the new Campus Freethought Alliance website at www.campusfreethought.org. Please link your local group websites to this new CFA site as well as to the CSH site.

All the best
Matt Cherry
