Hm. Me thinks that this Center for Inquiry is both illogical & immoral. Illogical because this "study" does not consider that the groups in question may believe that they are expected to give up their belongings entirely, or be spending the time praying feverishly for the souls of the unconverted.

Immoral because if they do this with the belief that the end is not near they are little different from cult leaders that demand that their membership give up their belongings specifically to the leaders - they are preying on a person's mistaken beliefs and gullibility.

Of course, maybe the center is focused only on groups that believe in wild celebration until the bitter end and maybe they intend to give the property back.

Of course, it really matters very little since the first has come and past and no one has even disappeared. Hopefully, people will be less vulnerable to such doomsday preaching and preying now.
