Museum of Beliefs
composed by M.J. Blair
Here are five names of interesting belief patterns that various humans have chosen over the centuries and general descriptions of what they mean (some may not entirely agree with these descriptions, although others may agree with them):
- MONOTHEISM
- Belief that there is one God
- POLYTHEISM
- Belief that there are two or more gods or Gods
- ATHEISM
- Belief that there are no gods or Gods and that there is no God
- ELIMINATIVE MATERIALISM
- Belief that the words and concepts organized around the mind and psychological states are illusions that are best eliminated as neuroscience develops precise physical descriptions of brain and nervous system processes
- IDEALISM
- Belief that the underlying basis of all reality is mental in nature, meaning that mind or minds create the ultimate reality
