THE HEALING TOUCH PAGE

Healing Touch (HT) is a process of repatterning energy around the body, in a manner which improves health.
It can be done with or without touching of the physical body. A full treatment lasts approximately one hour, and is done with the client fully clothed, lying on a massage table.

I practice Healing Touch to assist persons in healing their lives on every level.
This energy work allows for a repatterning in thought, feelings, behavior, physical functioning, and life choices.

Any person desiring improved health, in this broad context, or the healing of a specific problem; and is willing to allow these changes to occur, is a candidate for Healing Touch.

The above was my "mission statement" back in October 1996.
It leaves out more than it says about a form of healing which is both ancient and new.

Healing Touch (HT) is a specific modality, a particular category of what is called, "energy work".

Many massage therapists and other body workers call their businesses, "Healing Touch" since these people's work is also touch, and healing.
What these professionals do is not the energy modality of Healing Touch.
The American Holistic Nurses Association endorses this form of healing work (HT), which is taught by an organization called Healing Touch International.

HT is often misunderstood because it crosses the boundary between science and spirituality. Our culture likes to separate these two, veering away from the spiritual in medicine. We associate spiritual medicine with shamans, medicine men, witches, satanists, religious fanatics, and "crazy people".

We revere science as the study of true answers. The so called primitive cultures practiced spiritual medicine because they didn't understand the world, because they were childlike, had magical thinking.

In our culture today, the ministers/prayer leaders are often called in as a last resort, when there is nothing else to be done for the suffering person.

The tide is turning on the separation of these two world views. Older cultures did not have our technology, but were they truly ignorant?
Have we ignored the spiritual part of reality in our search for the concrete?

HT is based on quantum physics; particle and wave. Our human bodies, as well as everything else, is made up of particles, which also become waves.Each person has his/her own organization of energy, which can become blocked clogged, or drained at times.
A healer, understanding this concept, can assist the person to recharge himself, clear the blocks, and establish a more healthy flow of energy. So far we are within the realm of theoretical science.

Then the spiritual steps in. HOW do we reroute/recharge this energy?
A variety of movements are seen in use by the healer, but the most important means is through the healer's mental and emotional and physical focus.
The healer sets an intent for the person's highest good. Just like prayer!
The healer focuses entirely on the person he/she is working on, which requires mental, emotional, and physical discipline.

It requires the letting go of ego, which craves specific outcomes and power.
It requires surrender to the power which is beyond and within us all.
The power which many call God.

An observer would not be able to tell the difference between someone just waving his hands over a body from someone who is truly focusing.
Science is based on that which is observable from the outside. The spiritual is based on the inside.
So here we have an unobservable action taking place on "real" matter.
We have two distinct categories- science and spirituality- combining.

Combining science and the spiritual makes many people very nervous.
We have our scientists; we have our ministers. We say that they move in different realms, separate activities.
Yet humans are both spiritual and physical beings, who cannot separate those two aspects and live!
Ministers have told us forever that our faith is not something we take out for an hour every Sunday, but must be part of every minute of our lives.

Psychology, an acknowledged science, teaches that our mental/emotional health affects our physical health, and vice versa.
The spiritual is infused into all three, the combining force, the force which holds our particles in manifestation as human beings.

So what about religion? Everyone has a religion. Religion is the framework through which we experience our spirituality.
Whether it is an organized religion or a personal set of beliefs/unbeliefs; we all have some specific viewpoints on who God is or isn't.
It's the only way we can grasp the mystery of the infinite.
The Infinite is just that, infinite.
Nobody has the corner on "the truth" about God; God is too large for understanding.

Here I am, expressing my religion! Somehow, I must put into words that which is beyond articulation.

The point is, the healer's religion and the healee's religion need not be the same.
It's the same god who created and exists in us all, no matter what we call God, or which rituals in which we choose to participate.

We cannot afford to separate parts of ourselves, as if we were machines in need of repair. We have machine-like aspects, but the spirit infuses the machine.

Healing Touch acknowledges this spirit in all of us. It changes matter because our spirits direct our matter.
