The Guide to Fiction on the Web

Greetings

The Guide to Fiction on the Web is an annotated link-list of websites that publish complete works of fiction in HTML format. It's NOT a complete list of all the prose on the World Wide Web, only a pointer to a small percentage of the best fiction sites. Sites are listed alphabetically; you can browse the pages through the links below:

About this site

What you will NOT find in the Guide to Fiction on the Web:
  1. Sites with non-fiction stories/articles, but little or no fiction writing
  2. Diaries/personal journals
  3. Poetry-only sites
  4. Sites featuring excerpts of printed books put on the Web as a sales promotion
  5. Fiction in non-HTML format (distributed only via listserver or FTP)
  6. Sites in languages other than English
  7. Sites that suck

I stopped working on the Guide to Fiction as of December 1997. It was taking up too much of my time. What you see here is an archive version of the original site. These pages will be updated infrequently, if at all.

Boring copyright stuff

All text and graphics in the Guide to Fiction on the Web is copyrighted to Brian Winter. Authors/Editors/Webmasters are welcome to quote reviews of sites they created. The general public is permitted to download or cache one electronic copy of this site on a personal computer (but not an Internet server) or may print one hardcopy, for the purpose of off-line browsing, on the condition that the copy is deleted/destroyed within 30 days.

Please show your appreciation for this site by hotlinking it rather than pirating it. Also, I hope you'll extend the same courtesy to any sites you visit through my links. These folks work hard on their sites, and they deserve for their original contribution to the WWW to remain uniquely theirs. Piracy is not merely illegal, it's rude.
