I authored this portion of a group project focused on "The Five Pathways of Knowledge" when still a member of the Wolfbund. While they may in fact continue to utilize this as a tool of instruction, I retain sole authorship and ownership of this written work, and it may not be reproduced without my consent or without crediting me as the rightful author. -Hildolf Von Eisenwald
The Path of the Wolf is the path of vital experience. The place where this vital experience primarily takes place is Midgard, where the "homes" of the horizontal plane intersect with the vertical column of consciousness. The "vehicle" of this experience is the soul known as the Lich/Lyke (the physical body.) Considering that the vehicle of this path is the Lich, this is an extremely "organic" path, with input received from the five senses. The whole idea of "Sex, Drugs, and Rock & Roll" could fit in quite nicely with the Path of the Wolf, as there is an overall implication of sensual gratifications of various kinds that could yield powerful results (then again, if done in excess, you could also die... so much for being "the safest path.")
The Path of the Wolf is driven by hunger... hunger that finds its source in an odd mixture of the curiosity of the cognitive faculties ( from the influence of Ljossalfheimr) and the emotive & instinctual drives ( from the influence of Svartalfheimr.) While curiosity is indeed a component of the hunger of this path to a certain extent, there is a imbalance in favor of the drives rising out of Svartalfheimr. The hunger yields the hunt.
When younger, I wondered after the relationship between Ódhinn's ravens Huginn & Muninn and his wolves Freki and Geri; while there seemed to be many explanations of the ravens as cognitive faculties, there was no mention of the wolves or what they were. I received my answer one day when the thought "The hunger of the wolves feeds the ravens" entered my awareness. To me, this meant that while the ravens may break down, analyze and communicate material, the wolves possess the drive (hunger) and faculties to initially hunt and acquire that material. The wolves must take down the larger prey with their jaws & paws and sate themselves before the ravens can break down the carrion into smaller pieces with their beaks for digestion.
