These children are members of the Barua, Chakma and Marma minorities. Family poverty and the remoteness of their homes have prevented their parents from receiving formal education. Mahamandal Welfare Organization under the leadership of Ven. Prajna Bangsha Mahathero has instituted programs to break the cycle of povery and illiteracy. These programs are sadly underfunded and can accomodate only a fraction of the children in need of assistance. More sponsors and supporters are needed for 2003. DONATE
