~ Class of 1963 |
The candy canes
from Nick’s were simply the best.
I certainly have great
memories of our
class & especially the things we did together in high school. I
even remember in elementary school (Payne) making 12” diameter
Christmas balls that we decorated and then hung in an elaborate “tree”
of open boxes (you had to see it). Singing in concerts when I knew all
the words, but not quite the right tune. We dressed up for the
Christmas Tree Dance (excited to be wearing black dresses…I didn’t know
then that I’d be wearing black the rest of my life). And put out
special editions of The Electron (“Who was that under the mistletoe
with Senora Matthews?”, our own version of People, with less wattage).
The
candy canes from Nick’s were simply the best. I wrapped presents down
the street at Major T. Jester’s until I was fired for using too much
ribbon.
I’m still “in retail” (still
picture
frames) and frankly use as much ribbon as I want, to wrap them! Our
family will be here for Christmas and happy to be together! Daughter
Sarah is starting her last semester in law school, and son John has his
first job & first house. Joe and I still use hammers & nails
(his sterile for surgery), mine not. So here’s to good memories of
1963, and to making good memories for the future.
Merry Christmas.
