The Unpardonable Sin!

If the readers desire to have a part in the Lord's work as soul winners, it would be great for them to begin their own tract ministry by down loading our messages and send or give copies to others. What could be more important for you as an ambassador for Christ than to support the Body of Christ in this way?  The messages are already written, so why not pass them on to others?

1. The reader will notice that we have put words in parenthesis in the various Bible verses> This is done to help the student have a better understanding of the old King James language which is often a little bewildering to some folks who are not used to that kind of speech. Therefore, please bear with us as we teach the message.

A good idea would be to read your Bible along with each verse we have quoted. .  It is also very important for the student to look up all the added Bible texts that we have referred to in the Message. This will give the reader much added information! Speaking of the Holy Spirit's ministry, the Lord Jesus said, Scripture...

2. {V.7} "Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you [that is, to your advantage] that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter [Holy Spirit, Counselor, & Helper] will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.

3. {V.8} And when He is come, He will reprove [convict & convince] the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

4. {V.9} Of sin, because they believe not on Me [neither do they trust in, rely on and adhere to Me];

[Because they believe not on Me. The greatest and basic sin is unbelief. Jesus' return to the Father would vindicate His righteous life and the truthfulness of all He said] ...

5. {V.10} Of righteousness [uprightness, of heart and right standing with Me], because I go to My Father, and you [will] see Me no more;

6. {V.11} Of judgment, because the prince of this world [Satan] is judged [and condemned and sentence has already been passed upon him] {John 16:7-11}."

7. "Reprove" in {verse 8} is a very weak translation. The word in the Greek is "Elegcho," it actually means to convict. The Holy Spirit's role is that of a prosecuting attorney bringing in evidence... He will convict the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. This explains the persistent and omnipresent guilt complex that the human race has today. This is also the very thing many psychologists and psychiatrists are trying to remove, the Spirit of God is in our presence to brand the conscience of man.

8. Wherever we are, you will find us with a sense of right and wrong, and we have deep within ourselves a guilt complex. It was the pagan philosopher of Rome, Seneca, who wrote... " We must say to ourselves that we are evil, have been evil, and unhappily, I must add... shall be also in the future. Nobody can deliver himself; someone must stretch out a hand to him to lift him up."

9. Our entire system of jurisprudence is undergoing a revolution today of great proportions. The legal apparatus of our nation is being remodeled and revised. There is emerging an entirely different approach to the arrest and conviction of alleged criminals. The new concept of justice is weighed now on the side of the guilty criminal. The former purpose of the law was to punish the guilty and to protect the innocent.

10. Now it appears that the guilty are to be protected and the innocent are to be punished. A known mass killer was given every protection to the extent that it was almost impossible to bring him to justice. This is taking place all over the United States at the present time. Guilty men and woman in the highest offices of the United States Government are looked upon by law makers and the majority of the population, as if it makes no difference.

11. Folks in high places can get away with child murder, adultery, rape, perjury, telling multitudes of lies, bribery and many other crimes. But the majority of the rest of the nation say "ho hum," lets let bygones be forgotten and get along with the rest of the future. Signing the abortion amendment into being, was to legalize mass murder of innocent babies. What does the majority of the nation say? "Ho hum, the law makers who signed that amendment into law obviously knew what was the best for our country so let it stand."

12. All this means is that helpless and innocent people in this nation are exposed to the fiendish designs of many other criminal acts plus more mass murders. Who knows how many other murderers, rapist, and other type criminals might be on the loose, feeling that they too can get away with their crimes? After all, when law makers, the rich and the mighty can get away with many crimes, why can't we?

13. Thieves and other wrong doers are free to prey on helpless victims. It is difficult today to obtain a conviction, yet a conviction against the guilty is the sole objective of the prosecution, while the defense seeks to avoid conviction by every means that is possible.

14. In the spiritual realm, the Holy Spirit seeks to bring conviction to the guilty heart of man. And the natural thing for anybody to do, is to attempt to get away with all the crimes that they have committed. The criminal tries every method to discount his crime; he uses every device that is known, to dismiss the charge of guilty. He uses every expedient, all the way from blatant denial to miserable excuses. In spite of man's vaunted boasting and criminal acts, the charge of God still stands. Man is guilty before God.

15. {V.19} Scripture "Now we know that what things soever the law says, it says to them who are under the law: that [the murmurs and excuses of] every mouth may be stopped [hushed], and all the world may become guilty [and accountable] before God.

16. {V.20} Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified [or made righteous, acquitted and judged acceptable] in His sight [for those who observe the works and continually conform to those works prescribed by the law]: for by the [real function of the] law is [to make men recognize and be conscious of] the knowledge of sin. {Romans 3:19-20}." [This concerns the moral- law. It is not mere perception, but an acquaintance with sin that works toward repentance, faith and holy character. And then the Spirit of God prosecutes this case even further and says], Scripture...

17. {V.23} "For [that is,] all have sinned and have come [to the point where they have fallen] short of the [honor and] glory of God [which God bestows and receives];

18. {V.24} [All Believers] Being justified [declared righteous, upright and in right standing with God,] freely [without cause] by His grace [unmerited favor and mercy of God displayed toward man in saving and preserving him,] through the redemption that is [provided] in Christ Jesus:

19. {V.25} Whom God has sent forth [before the eyes of all,] to be a propitiation [sin- bearer] through faith in His blood, to declare His righteousness for the remission [forgiveness] of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God {Romans 3:23-25}." {See Ephesians 1:10}.

[This was to show God's righteousness, because in His Divine forbearance He had passed over and ignored former sins without punishment].

20. Today, God is not about to dismiss the charges in order to conform to some new interpretation that the Supreme Court and other law makers have. The Lord has stated that folks are guilty before Him and that He will not clear them. Scripture...

21. "Keeping mercy [and loving- kindness] for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation {Exodus 34:7}."

22. That is God's verdict. It must be understood, that in the end time, Jesus Christ will have the last word as the prosecuting attorney and judge over every person on this earth. God the Holy Spirit is present on this earth to press the charges over the guilty, ... and to bring conviction to every person, according to their condition and position before God.

23. A philosopher, Dr. C. E. Joad, who was not a Christian, made a statement concerning immorality immediately after world war two, he said "When war came, the existence of evil hit me in the face... I see now that evil is endemic in man, and that the Christian doctrine of original sin expresses a deep and essential insight into human nature."

24. This man calls the Christian faith, "a light to live by in an ever darkening world." How often do we hear an unbeliever make such a statement? Another man who is a psychiatrist, believes that doing away with Christianity would be great for the human race. But he did admit that the concept of the depravity of man foretold in God's Word is true. He stated that "you can see the wistful, and deep background, and the guilt complex in man."

25. He also said that... "there are certain things that are very disquieting today over the entire earth. That the tremendous increase in crime tempts him to give into the thought that man is "irretrievably the product of instincts that are inherently vicious and of a base nature." When have you ever heard a psychiatrist make such a statement? It seems very difficult for most folks to admit they are wrong! And you can be sure, nothing is more helpful in resolving a situation than a frank admission that at times we are wrong.

26. As to the word "base," men in high places, even Kings and other world leaders are called base and are put into office by God.

27. {V.17} Scripture " This matter is by the decree of the [Heavenly] watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the Most High [God] rules in the Kingdom of men, and gives it to whoever He will, and sets up over it the basest of men [the lowliest of men] {See Luke 1:52}.

28. {V.35} And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed [accounted] as nothing: and He [God] does according to His will in the army [host] of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay His hand, or say to Him, What doest thou [What are You doing]? {Daniel 4:17; & 35}." Scripture...

29. {V.21} "And He changes the times and the seasons: He removes kings [world leaders] and sets up kings: He gives wisdom to the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:

30. {V.22} He reveals the deep and secret things: He knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with Him {Daniel 2:21-22}." {See Job 15:8; Psalm 25:14; & Matthew 6:6}. Scripture...

31. {V.1} "The kings [presidents and other world leaders] heart [minds] is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water [watercourses]: He turns it wherever [and which way] he will.

32. {V.2} Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the Lord ponders [weighs and tries] the hearts [the minds of men] {Proverbs 21:1-2}." {See Proverbs 24:12; & Luke 16:15}. Scripture...

33. {V.2} "When the [uncompromisingly] righteous are in authority [and becomes great], the people rejoice: but when the wicked bears rule, the people morn.

34. {V.12} If a ruler hearken [listens] to lies [and pays attention and accepts the lies and rules of a wicked society] all his servants are [and will become] wicked {Proverbs 29:2; & 12}."

35. Thus, we have a picture of both good and evil rulers, but, what about the common people, do they always do the right thing? It seems that many people down deep in their thinking really believe they are always right.

Though people may disregard their wrongs, somehow or other ... whatever they do follows them and usually they never forget their past. I know a man who admitted, that when he was 8 years old, he stole a penny from his sister. When his father ask him about it, he denied it.

36. The father whipped him with a belt trying with every strike of the belt to get him to confess, but he would not. He said that had his father beat him to death, he would have never confessed to the theft. When he was thirty years of age he reminded his father of the theft and admitted that he had stolen the penny. He had waited 22 years to confess that crime!

Although sin may be buried deeply in the mind, the Spirit of God is in the world to convict of sin, righteousness and of judgment.

37. Years ago, a very prominent doctor was arrested for a terrible murder. He was imprisoned in a miserable dungeon and after being there several days he called the jailor and stated, "I wish you would remove that man in the next cell to me. All during the night he keeps saying, "The doctor is a murderer. The doctor is a murderer." The jailor answered, "I'm sorry, but there is no one in the cell next to you." The Holy Spirit brings conviction deep down in man's subconscious mind, a conviction, of course that is, as a usual thing, resisted.

38. One reason the Holy Spirit is present with us today, is to bring charges against us according to our works and to bring conviction to the human heart. He appeals to us and points out to us, through the Word of God, that there will be a future judgment for sin and that no man is above sin!

Even though sin may be committed because of emotional thoughts and mental conclusions, there will still be no excuse for it. Every individual will be guilty before God for the atrocities he commits on this earth while in the human body.

39. All sin will be carried into the Lord's Supreme Court and will be judged by God. Man exercises free will, and God tells man that he must accept the Lord's verdict. To be saved from the punishment of an everlasting lake of fire, one must plead guilty and cast himself upon the mercy of the court.

When we confess our sins and prostrate ourselves with a humble heart [mind] before the great God, and ask Him to save our souls for Christ's sake, we will then receive salvation. {See John 3:16-17}.

40. When we confess our sins to the Lord , the strangest thing happens... which cannot be justified even in our court system today ... God comes over on the side of the criminal and any other lost person and He says, Scripture...

41. "Come now, and let us reason together, says the Lord; though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow, though they be red like crimson, they shall be [white] as wool {Isaiah 1:18}."

42. The Spirit of God not only brings conviction, but He reveals the One who paid the penalty for man's sin. Then our Lord went on to explain what He means by sin, He says... "of sin, because they believe not on Me."

Man today is not guilty and condemned because he is committing certain sins, but because folks are in the state of sin, which is a permanent and an eternal condition unless it is changed by accepting Christ as personal Saviour. Jesus is the only remedy for sin. Listen to our Lord speaking to the man Nicodemus...

43. Scripture "He that believes on Him [Christ] is not condemned: but he that believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God {John 3:18}." [He is condemned for refusing to let his trust rest in Christ's name]. The Amplified Bible when quoting this same verse, says it like this ...

44. "He who believes on Him... who clings to, trusts in, relies on Him... is not judged [he who trusts in Him never comes up for judgment; for him there is no rejection, no condemnation; he incurs no damnation]. But he who does not believe [not cleave to, rely on, trust in Him] is judged already; [he has already been convicted; has already received his sentence] because he has not believed on and trusted in the name of the only begotten Son of God. ... He is condemned for refusing to let his trust rest in Christ's name."

45. The human race is already condemned; God is not waiting to see if you are going to be good or bad. You are as a non- believer, already guilty before the Lord. Unbelief is a state of eternal sin, not an act.

When a person says that he or she rejects Christ, they are not committing an act of sin, they are merely expressing a condition of their heart [mind]. And, my friend, continual unbelief is the unpardonable sin in any age, this will remain so, as long as the lost sinner remains in that state of mind!

46. Let me define it: the unpardonable sin is the voluntary and willful refusal to accept the pardon God offers by the convicting work of the Holy Spirit, and that's as far as the Lord will go. I read of a man, who years ago, was charged with a serious crime. He was brought into court and was convicted, the judge handed down the sentence and he was put into prison for life. But through the machination of friends and his father, a wealthy man, they secured a pardon from the governor.

47. The pardon was brought to the condemned man; but he refused to accept it. The warden was perplexed and was undecided as to the course he must take under this circumstance. The matter was brought before the court and the judge handed down his decision ... " when a pardon is offered and rejected, then the status of the prisoner remains as it was before." That man remained in the prison until his death.

48. The Lord today offers a pardon to any person who will accept it. To refuse to accept that pardon and salvation from the Lord, is the sin against the Holy spirit. That , we believe, is the one and only sin that is unpardonable, that is, unless the unbeliever has a change of mind before his or her death! Listen to the Lord Jesus speaking now to the religious rulers,

49. {V.28} Scripture "Verily [truly and solemnly] I say to you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme:

50. [The word... "1. ...Blas-phe-my," means "slander or impious utterance or action concerning God or sacred things. 2. ... Cursing and reviling the ineffable name of the Lord. 3. ... The crime of assuming to one's self the rights or qualities of God. 4. ... Irreverent behavior toward anything held sacred. 5. ... To utter impious curse words]."

51. {V.29} But he that shall blaspheme [speaks abusively or maliciously and misrepresents anything] against the Holy Spirit has never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:

52. {V.30} Because they said, He has an unclean spirit {Mark 3:28-30}."

53. Let's look at the above Scripture for a moment. The religious rulers were not in danger of committing the unpardonable sin because they said that Jesus performed miracles by the power of the devil. That is not the condemnation. He says in {verse 28}, that all blasphemies shall be forgiven men.

There is not one single sin that you have committed in the past but what if you came to Christ today He would cast that sin as far as the east is from the west across the whole universe. Which of course, is from everlasting to everlasting and He would accept you as His own!

54. There have been folks who have committed horrible sins all their lives until they were at a very old age, and yet, just before their death they became believers, and was therefore saved to spend eternity in Heaven! We are aware that this sounds incredulous, but any knowledgeable Godly Theologian will testify to the truth of this statement.

55. What then was their problem? They were expressing an attitude of unbelief which was a "continued permanent rejection of Christ." They were resisting the Holy Spirit. That, my friend, was unpardonable. Notice that later on Stephen was brought before this same group, and he repeated the same thing the Lord Jesus had said. Scripture...

56. {V,51} "You [stubborn and] stiff-necked [people, still heathenish and] uncircumcised in heart [mind] and ears, you do always [actively] resist the Holy Spirit: as your fathers [forefathers] did so do you. {See Exodus 33:3; Numbers 27:14; Isaiah 63:10; Jeremiah 6:10 & 9:26}. [The word "Holy Ghost" is not in the Greek Bible it is always spoken of as "Holy Spirit"].

57. {V.52} Which of the prophets have not your fathers [forefathers] persecuted? and they have slain them which showed [prophesied about and foretold] before of the coming of the Just One [Jesus Christ the Messiah]; of whom you [that is, many of the unbelieving part of the Israelite people] have been now the betrayers and murderers {Acts 7:51-52}."

58. They were guilty of the same thing their forefathers had been guilty of. Under the Lord Jesus Christ's Ministry while He was ministering to the Hebrew nation, they continued in resisting the Holy Spirit. The same condition exists today as verse 51 above states. That is the thing that Christ says is unpardonable.

Every Christian should ponder these verses. Remember, that the attitude of all unbelievers are unpardonable until a change is made in the heart of each individual. It is not the act of sin that condemns.

59. It is the failure of not accepting Christ as Saviour that is unacceptable and unpardonable, until acceptance is made! Jesus said in {Matthew 12:34} "Out of the abundance of the heart [mind] the mouth speaks." When a man blasphemes with his mouth, that is not the thing that causes him to be condemned; it is the attitude and rejection of his heart [mind]. And this is a permanent condition unless he stops resisting.

60. This is the sin against the Holy Spirit. To resist the convicting work of the Holy Spirit in the heart [mind] and life again we repeat, is unacceptable! Now listen to the solemn words of the Lord Jesus as He speaks to these same rulers, Scripture...

61. {V.35.} "Then Jesus said to them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walks in darkness knows not where he goes. {See John 8:12; Isaiah 8:22; & 2- Corinthians 4:6}.

62. [Light ... "absolute;" the opposite of darkness, Satan comprises darkness. Light therefore specifically refers to Jesus Christ, God the Son, and also to the light [Knowledge] of Christ's Holy Word. Only through Christ and the light of His Word can mankind evade darkness].

63. {V.36} While you have light, believe in the light, that you may be the children of light These things spoke Jesus, and departed, and did hide Himself from them.

[He was lost from their view. His very act of withdrawing from them was an act of rejection]. [They were told to have faith in light, hold to and rely on it ... that you may become sons of the light and be filled with light].

64. {V.37} But though He had done so many miracles before them [right before their eyes], yet they believed not on Him:

65. We who read these words today say, "we would never do this if we saw Jesus performing miracles before us!" But everyday miracles are performed before our eyes. Think about the various inventions that man performs today, does not God give man the knowledge to do this? When a new born baby comes into this world, is this not a miracle?

66. When rain falls upon parched ground to help the crops grow, is this not a miracle? And what about the blooms you see on the flowers throughout our land, is this not a miracle from God? When we think about it, there are countless miracles performed continually, but man takes these miracles for granted, what a shame] !

67. {V.38} That the saying of Esa'ias [Isaiah] the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke, Lord who has believed our report [and our message]? and to whom has the arm [the miraculous power] of the Lord been [unveiled and] revealed? {See Isaiah 53:1; John 12:38-41; Romans 10:16}.

68. {V.39} Therefore they could not believe, [they were not able to believe,] because that Esa'ias [Isaiah] said again,

69. {V.40} He [Jehovah, God] has blinded their eyes, and hardened [and benumbed] their [callous degenerated] heart [minds, He has made their minds dull]; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and [repent and] be converted, and [turn to Me that] I should heal them. {See Acts 28:26-27}.

70. {V.41} These things said Esa'ias [Isaiah], when he saw His [Jehovah's] glory, and spoke of Him {John 12:35-41}." Scripture...

71. "And one cried to another, and said Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord of Hosts: the whole earth is full of His glory {Isaiah 6:3}." [Jehovah- Lord of Hosts, 3 in One]. Scripture...

72. {V.9} "And He said, go and tell this people, hear you [pay attention and hear continually] indeed, but understand not; and see you [that you pay attention and see continually] indeed, but perceive [understand] not [with your mind].

73. {V.10} Make the heart [mind] of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, [minds] and convert, and be healed {Isaiah 6:9-10}."

74. The Apostle John tells us, that the people's minds who God hardened, were those who previously had hardened their own hearts [minds]. God never hardened Pharaoh's heart [mind] until Pharaoh had hardened his own heart [mind]. You notice that the Lord has the last word.

You will find this same thing today concerning professing Christians. This is, I believe, a warning today to those who glibly make a confession of Christ, and treat sin lightly. Do you believe that all those folks who profess Christ actually posses Him in their heart [mind]? Scripture...

75. {V.26} "For if we sin willfully [deliberately and willingly sinning] after that we have received the knowledge of the truth [concerning salvation], there remains no more sacrifice for [our] sins [no further offering to look forward to],

76. {V.27} [There is nothing left for us then] But a certain fearful [prospect and expectation and] looking for of [Divine] judgment and [of a] fiery [burning wrath and] indignation, which shall devour the adversaries [and consume those who put themselves in opposition to the Lord]. {See Isaiah 26:11}.

77. {V.28} He that [violated and thus rejected and] despised Moses' law [and saw the law as being nothing to them] died without [pity or] mercy under [the evidence portrayed to] two or three witnesses: {See Deuteronomy 17:2-7}.

78. {V.29} Of how much sorer [sterner and heavier] punishment, suppose you, shall he be thought worthy, who has trodden under foot the Son of God, and has counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith He was sanctified, an unholy thing, and has done despite [by

profaning it and insulting it which is a disgrace] unto the Spirit of grace [Who imparts grace, the unmerited favor and blessing of God]? {See Exodus 24:8; I- Corinthians 11:25 & Hebrews 8:6}.

79. {V.30} For we know Him [Christ the Creator and judge] that has said, Vengeance belongs to Me, [retribution and the meting out of full justice rest with Me,] I will recompense [I will repay], says the Lord. And again, the Lord shall judge His people. [He will judge, determine, solve, settle the cause and the case of His people].

80. {V.31} It is a fearful [formidable and terrible] thing to [incur the divine penalties and then] fall [and be cast] into the hands of the living God {Hebrews 10:26-31}." {See Deuteronomy 32:35-36}.

81. These verses bring out a very solemn warning to those who glibly say they believe in Jesus in their mind and ignore what He says. In that day the Hebrews just kept going to the temple, bringing their sacrifices and living as if Christ had never died for them. Today, many who profess Christ are living as though He did not die for them. Since They have resisted the Spirit of God there is nothing in the future for them but judgment.

82. In one of the television programs people were given a chance to talk. One man presented the Gospel of Christ, but his knowledge of God's Word was really lacking. Someone in the audience began to scream at him and said, "Will God send me to hell because I do not believe in Jesus?" the answer is, "God sends no one to hell. Hell is a place prepared for the devil and his angels, it was not even created for humans."

83. Folks who resist the Holy Spirit go there because they fail to obey God's Word. They resist the Spirit of God and because of this, send themselves to Hell. They refuse Jesus and His offer of pardon, and as He said to those religious rulers when He turned and left them, "Depart from Me, you that work iniquity." God extends mercy and offers a pardon to all lost people in this dispensation of grace.

84. Scripture... "For God sent not His Son into the world to [judge, reject and] condemn [and to pass sentence on] the world; but that the world through Him might be saved [and be made safe and sound through Him] {John 3:17}."

85. As we have said before, the Lord spoke of the Holy Spirit's work and said:

86. Scripture "And when He is come, He will reprove [convict and convince] the world of sin... [and bring demonstration to it about sin and about righteousness ... uprightness of heart [mind], and right standing with God ... and about judgment] {John 3:8}."

87. Not only has He forgiven our sins through His death on the cross, but by His resurrection and ascension into Heaven [I say this reverently], you have no right to go to Heaven unless you take Christ as your personal Saviour. The Spirit of God wants you to know you are guilty so that you will accept the pardon that is offered to you by God.

88. The Scriptures are precise, to reject Christ's plea for you to be saved, is to be guilty of the verdict that is unpardonable and will send you to the "Lake of Fire," which is, "The Prison Of No Return." Either you stand eternally complete in Him or you remain totally and eternally rejected out and away from Him.

89. The absence of conviction is the identifying characteristic of this age both outside the Body of Christ and inside the Body. The lack of conviction among professing Christians actually raises the question regarding their salvation. This is an extreme statement. But, I want you to read what Jeremiah the prophet said to Jehovah God concerning the people in Israel just before God sent them into captivity. Jeremiah didn't want to say this, but he spoke his mind with a broken heart and tears in his eyes. Scripture...

90. "O Lord, are not Your eyes upon the truth? [The people meant to please You outwardly, but You have looked on their hearts, "minds"], You have stricken them, but they have not grieved; You have consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder then a rock ; they have refused to [repent and] return [to you] {Jeremiah 5:3}."

91. [God had been warning them for years, He did not want to send them into captivity. And there stood His prophet, Jeremiah, weeping, even as our Lord wept over Jerusalem centuries later]. Scripture ...

92. "Thus says the Lord, stand you in the ways [roads], and see, and ask for the old [eternal] paths, where is the good [old] way, and walk therein, and you shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein {Jeremiah 6:16." See Matthew 11:29}.

93. [The blowing of the trumpet was a signal of danger that men should obey. But here they said, "We don't pay attention to it." And this is the way many professing Christians do with God's Word today. Listen to this language], Scripture...

94. {V.13} "And now, because you have done all these works, says the Lord, and [because when] I spoke to you [persistently even], rising up early and speaking, but [you] heard not [you would not listen]; and I called you, but [you] answered not.

95. {V.14} Therefore will I do to this house [Israel's Temple], which is called by My name, wherein you trust, and to the place which I gave to you and to your fathers, as I have done to Shiloh.

[Just as the presence of the tabernacle in Shiloh during the time of the judges did not save that city from falling, so the Temple would not save Jerusalem].

96. {V.15} And I will cast you out of My sight, as I have cast out all your brethren, even the whole seed [posterity] of [the tribe of] Ephraim.

97. {V.29} Cut off your hair [your crown], O Jerusalem, and cast it away, and take up a lamentation on [the bare hights] high places; for the Lord has rejected and forsaken the generation of His wrath {Jeremiah 7:13-15,29}." ["You may exhibit grief all you want to" is the meaning here]. {Cut of your hair as a sign of warning. "See... Job 1:20; & Micah 1:16"}. Scripture...

98. {V.5} "Why then is this people of Jerusalem slidden back by a perpetual backsliding [from Me]? they hold fast deceit [idolatry; false idols, they worship many things that are false], they refuse to [repent and] return [to Me].

99. {V.6} I hearkened [listened] and heard, but they spoke not aright [in the right way]: no man repented him of his wickedness, saying, What have I done? every one turned to his [own individual] course, as the horse rushes [like a torrent] into the battle {Jeremiah 8:5-6}." Scripture...

100. "Your habitation is in the midst of deceit; through [oppression upon oppression and] deceit [upon deceit. through deceit] they refuse to know [and try to understand] Me, says the Lord {Jeremiah 9:6}."

102. [That is God's condemnation of His people. You will find that the Lord Jesus gave the same kind of condemnation in His day].

103. Scripture ... {V.14} "And in them is [the process of the prophecy that will be] fulfilled the prophecy of Isa'ias [Isaiah], which says, By hearing you shall hear, and shall not [grasp and] understand; and [you shall indeed look and look but] seeing you shall not see, and shall not perceive:

104. {V.15} For this people's [that consist of the nation of Israel's] heart [minds] is waxed gross [fat and dull], and their ears are [heavy] dull [and purposely hard] of hearing, and their eyes they have [tightly] closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear [and comprehend the sense] with their ears, and should [grasp and] understand with their heart [mind], and should [change by turning away from sin and] be converted, and I should heal them {Matthew 13:14-15}." {See Isaiah 6:9-10}.

105. There was a small unpainted Church on the side of a hill, it was called "the halfway Gospel Church." the name may be changed now, but that name could be attached to many assemblies today. The people only went halfway... these folks heard the Word of God which fell on ears that refused to pay attention. They ignored what they were taught. They saw, but they were hard of hearing. They only went half way.

In my own teaching of the Word of God, I have really been amazed at the number of people who are halfway and don't seem to have enough will power to go the full distance to Christ.

106. The people in that small Assembly had a conviction but they did not come through for God. A picture of such a person was Lot's wife. She probably worshipped with her husband and likely made a profession of being a true Believer in the city of Sodom. But she evidently thought so highly of Sodom that she just had to turn and look back. The outcome of course, was that by looking back, she turned to a pillar of salt {Genesis 19:1-26}, she only went half way.

107. Jesus said to His Apostles... "Remember Lot's wife {Luke 17:32}." Esau the twin brother of Jacob was a son of the patriarch Isaac? He was brought up in a godly home and made a profession of being one of God's children? But, he sold his birthright then actually sought for repentance. Scripture ...

108. {V.16} "lest there be any fornicator [becomes guilty of sexual vice], or [become a] profane [godless, sacrilegious] person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat [one single meal] sold his birthright. {See Genesis 25:29-34}.

109. {V.17} For you know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, [and regain title to his inheritance,] he was rejected: [disqualified and set aside,] for he found no place of [or an opportunity to, repair by] repentance, [for what he had done, that is, no chance to recall the choice he had made, all...] though he sought it carefully with tears {Hebrews 12:16-17}." {See Genesis 27:30-40}.

110. Those tears were shed only because he lost a material inheritance, he only went half way. Balaam was a prophet who gave the great message, likely the first message concerning the birth of the Messiah from the tribe of Judah. And he went so far as to say, "Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my last end be like his!" In other words, "I want to be as godly as Jacob!"

111. But read the record and you find that he joined the enemies of God and fought against God and His people and was killed in battle! Oh, he had a conviction, but he went only halfway. {See Numbers Ch. 22; & Ch. 23; Jude v.11; & Revelation 2:14}.

112. There was a lady named Orpha, also another lady named Ruth, both were daughters in-law of Naomi, and both decided to go with Naomi to live with God's people in Bethlehem.

As Naomi urged them to remain in their own country, Orpha and Ruth stood crying, Ruth decided to go with Naomi to Naomi's people, but Orpha turned and went back to her people who only worshipped false gods. She went only half way, but she turned back .

Only judgment awaits her in the end! {See Ruth 1:1-18}... Judas Iscariot performed miracles, healed the sick, he preached the Gospel of the Kingdom, but he betrayed the Lord.

113. {V.3} Scripture " When Judas, which had betrayed Him, when he saw that he [Jesus ] was condemned, [he was afflicted in his own mind and troubled for his former folly; and with remorse, that is, with fear of the eternal consequences that would be brought upon himself, he] repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, {See Exodus 21:32}.

114. {V.4} Saying I have sinned in that I have betrayed innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us" see you to that [yourself].

115. {V.5} And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and went and hanged himself {Matthew 27:3-5}."

116. At that same time, the priests went through the Temple leading Christ in order to have Him condemned, they did this in order to have Him crucified. Why didn't Judas fall down before Jesus and say, "I have sinned Lord please forgive me!" Had he done this, the Lord would have definitely saved His soul just as He would for any repentant sinner! as he did not, he went on to commit suicide. He only went half way and no further! The ruler Felix listened to Paul the Apostle witnessing to him. Felix did not know that it is very dangerous to turn your back on God after having heard the Lord's Word.

117. Paul reasoned with Felix concerning righteousness, self-control and warned him of judgment to come. We are told that Felix trembled and was convicted. But, there is no record of his ever turning to Christ for salvation, Felix only went half way. ... {Read Acts Ch. 24}. Agrippa was very interested when Paul gave his own testimony and he said to Paul, "Almost you persuade me to be a Christian." But as far as the record is concerned, he never became a Christian, he was halfway to becoming a Believer but he went no further! {See Acts 26:28}.

118. Paul mentioned a man named Demas who was a worker in the early Church. Demas had traveled with Paul and assisted him in his missionary ministry. But in Paul's last letter, he wrote, "Demas has forsaken me having loved this present world." As far as we know Demas only went half way and never completely turned to Christ. {See 2- Timothy 4:10}.

119. The fact is, there are many people who profess Christ and listen to wonderful messages concerning salvation from great Bible teachers. The trouble is, their hearts [minds] are so hardened by Satan that they never reach the point where they come under conviction and reach for eternal salvation through Christ Jesus! This indeed is very tragic! Paul wrote to the Corinthian Christians and warned them saying, Scripture...

120. {V.5} "Examine [test and evaluate] yourselves [to see], whether you be [holding yourself] in the faith [and showing the proper fruits of it, test and]; prove your own selves. Know you not your own selves [thoroughly by an ever-increasing experience], how that Jesus Christ is in you, except you be reprobates [counterfeits, disapproved, on trial and rejected]?

121. {V.6} But I trust [hope] that you shall know [and recognize] that we are not reprobates [or disapproved, on trail & rejected].

122. {V.7} Now I pray to God that you do no evil [or nothing wrong]; not [in order] that we [and what we teach] should appear [to be] approved, but that you should [continue to] do that which is honest [and right], though we be as reprobates [that is, though we may seem to have failed and be unapproved].

123. {V.8} For we can do nothing against the truth [not serve any party or personal interest], but [only] for the truth [which is to teach the Gospel of the Mystery of the grace of God].

124. {V.9} For we are glad, when we are weak [unapproved], and you are [really] strong: and this also we wish [and pray for], even your perfection [your all round strengthening and perfecting of your soul].

125. {V.10} Therefore I write these things [while I am] being absent [from you], lest being present I should use sharpness [or deal in a sharp manner toward you], according to the power [and authority] which the Lord has given me to edification [to be employed, however for building you up], and not to [tear you down to] destruction {2- Corinthians 13:5-10}."

126. These verses are meant for us today as well. Every person should examine one's self to make sure that they are in the true faith. When was the last time you confessed your sins directly to God the Father through prayer?

Can you hurt, harm and hinder the proclamation of the Gospel and have no conviction about it whatsoever?  Are you guilty of never confessing your sins and never grieve over them? Is it possible that you are putting up a bold front, but down deep in your heart there has been no real conviction? Is the Holy Spirit speaking to your heart? Are you guilty of resisting Him?

127. God stated, "My Spirit shall not always strive with man." There is no doubt in my mind that there comes a time when a man or woman steps over the invisible line, and the Holy Spirit no longer speaks or leads them to conviction. That is the reason some people can be so comfortable in an Assembly service and even get up and give a little testimony now and then.

How long has it been since you wept with joy when some sinner accepted Christ as their Saviour? If this never happens to you, then something is drastically wrong in your life! And it would be to your advantage to search your soul for the answer!

128. Are you and your loved ones ready? God is ready. Christ has prepared a home for you in Heaven. He wants you there. I believe that you want to go there. The Word of the Lord states, Scripture ...

129. "He, that [who] being often reproved [and] hardens his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy {Proverbs 29:1}."

[If you will not listen and believe before the Resurrection of the Body of Christ, look what the Lord says about you] ...

130. {V.10} Scripture "And with all deceivableness of [unlimited seduction to evil and with all wicked deception to] unrighteousness in them that perish [and are going to perdition, perishing]; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. [They refused to believe the truth of God's Word].

131. {V.11} And for this cause God will send them [a working error of] strong delusion [a misleading influence, of some type of idol worship], that they should believe a lie [of what is false].

132. {V.12} That they all might [be judged and] be damned [condemned] who believed not [and refused to adhere to trust and rely on] the truth, but [instead] had pleasure in unrighteousness {2- Thessalonians 2:10-12}."

133. In order to be positive of your own Salvation, we would ask you to "Please" read and pray the following prayer and if you really mean in your heart [mind] what you have read and if you have spoken these words in this prayer with a contrite mind to God the Father, at the end of the prayer you will have become a Child of God!

**THE SINNERS PRAYER**

134. Heavenly Father, I know that I'm a lost sinner and that I cannot save myself by good works. I believe that Jesus Christ is God the Son Who came down from Heaven and took on a human body of flesh and was born of the Virgin Mary. I believe that Jesus shed His blood on the cross of Calvary and died paying the price for my sins with His death so that I can receive salvation because and through His sacrifice.

I believe that after Christ's sacrifice and death, He arose from the tomb after three literal days and nights. That Jesus ascended into the third Heaven to sit at the right hand of God the Father. I believe that Jesus will return for all Saints who belong to the Body of Christ in the Resurrection [Rapture] according to His own promise!

I know that I have been up to this time a lost sinner and deserved to go to hell. So I beseech you Heavenly Father, send your Holy Spirit at this very moment into my Heart and save me for Jesus Christ sake as has been promised me by Your Holy Word. I am receiving Jesus Christ at this very moment as my personal Saviour, my Lord and as my only blessed hope for salvation. Thank You Lord for now I am saved by Your wonderful grace.  Amen!

135. "For God so [greatly] loved [and dearly prized] the world, that He [even] gave [up] His only- begotten Son, that whosoever believeth [and trusts, clings to and relies] in Him should not perish [come to destruction or ever loose their Salvation], but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world [in order] to condemn [or to pass sentence on] the world; but that the world through Him might be saved {John 3:16-17}."

136. " For [it is by free] grace [God's unmerited favor] are you saved [delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ's Salvation] through [your] faith; and [this Salvation] that [is] not of yourselves [your own doing but]: it is the gift of God: Not of works [it came not through your own striving], lest any man should boast {Ephesians 2:8-9}."

137. [But, on the contrary, as the Scriptures teach], "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, [all] the things which God has prepared [made and keeps ready] for them that love Him [that is, for those who hold Him in affectionate reverence]. But God has revealed them to us by His [Holy] Spirit, for the Spirit searches all things, yes the deep things of God {1- Corinthians 2:9-10}."
