So you see.....very few people come check out my site. And I pretty well know everybody who does, probably. I tried to list my site on google and yahoo and excite and stuff, but it never worked.
Basically, if you give your real name on my site, you won't be having security problems. But, as an internet culture, we do have these issues. I rarely give out my real name too. And stuff like credit card numbers? Many people have real hangups about that. In fact, things are pretty secure. The people who are programming these things know damn well that if security is lax, they are gonna be screwed. I would think that internet security is better than giving your credit card number out over the phone. Now, you might get scam corporations taking your money and not doing anything about it. But that has nothing to do with internet communications, it has to do with you getting fleeced. But this real name thing....really interesting. Like a phobia of public exposure or something.
I can't post my site on Google, how did you do it?
elmo
Hmm. Well, I followed the instructions on the site. I think you have to go to www.google.ca/addurl.html or something like that. Get your site listed. And there would be a delay (at least that's what I found) of a couple months before your site sort of turns up hits.
Calvin
Is this a site you helped build because if it is, I found it on Google. http://www.sfu.ca/~mkinga/
Calvin Woo?
It was a project that I was involved in, yes. There are a few other references to me on google, one involving the SFU Choir, and a couple involving the Gentlemen of Fortune barbershop chorus. But nothing pointing to this particular website.

maybe b/c youre using geocities or your headers are not unique
enough... i don't ever use meta tags on mine but i get search results on the
domain key words; if you type "brassman327", it will return something on google
for you.
3 results as a matter of fact. :)
procrastinator.
Hey thanks for procrastinating. You're right, 'brassman327' does return results. I keep looking up "Calvin Woo" because that's what when I submitted my site to google, that I put in as my search keywords.
cal
do you even need to submit your site to google? because i don't due to my own paranoia, yet when i do a search, my site comes up (alias, not real full name because no where on my site do i mention my name due to more paranoia :P).
tired
huh. well, maybe not. my xanga blog page, and my cmpt 310 group project seems to be there with no prompting on my part.
