Arbor Day

I love all kinds of trees it seems
That grow so tall and high,
With leaves of green so beautiful
Reaching ever toward the sky.

Cottonwood on either side
Along the river's edge,
Quaken aspen on the hills
Tall cypress for a hedge.

Lazy days 'neath poplar shade
A sturdy oak I love,
Resting near a redwood grand
Azure sky of blue above.

Black walnut tree with spreading bough
You seem to be a king,
In winter time with snowy crown
So beautiful in spring.

A tree on Arbor Day to plant
As o'er the land we trod,
Will help to beautify the earth
The handy work of God. 1
