Dear friends,
RUSSIAN MINISTRY NEWS LETTER: APRIL 1999
Dear friends,
We greet you in the mighty name of Jesus!
Many things here were shadowed because of the air strikes in Yugoslavia. Russia also is heavily involved in this conflict so I decided to write you a little bit on how we see it.
Christians in Russia historically are against war measures (except of defense from foreign aggressor) and everybody here consider this war as a great mistake of US government and personally of President Bill Clinton. There are so many serious arguments backing this point of view: civil Yugoslavian people who are dying under the air attacks are not responsible for Yugoslavian leaders decisions (although many of them were bad). Air strikes leads only to escalation of ethnic conflict in Kosovo. The world may slide down to the cold war again. Finally, the law of sowing and reaping is in effect: "for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword" (Mt. 26:52).
We are interested what is your personal opinion and the position of American church?
We are praying for the wisdom and God's revelation for the all leaders who are involved in this war. Against the enemy's spirit of nationalism who has provoked the conflict in Kosovo and is moving even stronger today. We pray for God's protection upon all Yugoslavian territory especially for our brothers and sisters there. Would you please join us in these prayers?
Last month was very fruitful for our evangelistic anti-abortion ministry in public schools. We were able to preach the good news to about 520-550 high grade students in 5 schools and colleges. Currently we present two programs - about abortions and sexual relationships. . Each program contains basic information, video film, preaching of the Gospel and distribution of Bibles and tracks.
We are moving towards the youth ministry. One our church leader is preparing to become full time youth and children minister, we also have found good facility where for reasonable price we might have meetings.
Our brother Igor continues to work on the mission field in Uzbekistan- Central Asia's Muslim republic. In the month of April a big conference on missions will be held in Moscow. We hope that Igor will be able to come and share with us in details what is going on in his ministry.
We thank all our American brothers and sisters for your prayers and help and want to encourage you with these verses: "Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality."
God bless you!
