RUSSIAN MINISTRY NEWS LETTER: June 1999
Dear friends,
Warm summer greetings from Russia!
I want to encourage you to pray more for Yugoslavia region. It is incredible how a conflict with a small nation has led into such an extremely dangerous situation world wide: NATO relationships with Russia and China have been severely harmed, many Muslim and Communist regimes (such as Iraq, Syria, North Korea...) are furious, billions of dollars have been spent so far on the war, with much more projected and billions of dollars will be spent rebuilding the country...
I think of this bombing as of putting more and more woods into bonfire in the midst of wild dry forest..
As It had been mentioned before, the previous World Wars began in this area too and the powers of darkness continue to work over this area and impact the world.
Well as you may know President Boris Yeltsin has appointed Sergei Stepashin to the position of Russian Prime Minister. Parliament agreed surprisingly quickly. Sergei Stepashin is absolutely loyal to the President and is known as honest and trustworthy politician. We hope and pray for him to be a good head for the government in this crucial time.
Our anti-abortion ministry is postponed till September due to exams and vacations in high schools and colleges. We hope to add anti-drug program to our next representations.
We are trying two more approaches in the evangelistic ministry. One of them is humanitarian help distribution. One Christian charitable organization has donated us some food cans and some clothing which was distributed among 60 needy people whom we preached the Gospel. Many of them responded on the salvation prayer. Praise the Lord! We hope to continue this evangelical practice. Another direction is the telephone query asking people their opinion in various spiritual matters and inviting those who are interested to the church. As I mentioned before evangelism in Russia is not easy at all especially because of strong spirit of fear: most of the people consider any non-orthodox church as a harmful weird sect and it's very difficult to destroy this lie. So we would appreciate very much your prayers for our churches.
