Dear friends!
Warm Christian greetings from cold autumnal Moscow.
I want to present you with some current news from Russia.
Praise the Lord that there were no riots and violence in October
manifestations organized by Communists and labor leaders. Russian people in general demonstrate patience and soundness in spiraling economic crisis.
One of the main problems hindering Russia's economic revival is rampant corruption, which causes a lot of expenses to the state each year and deters desperately needed foreign investment. Many government officials are suspected in corruption.
We are praying "that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men" in Russian government (2Thes. 3:2).
Russian regions are awaiting a bleak winter as everyday medicines become harder to find and more expensive.
"It is a very severe problem. There is a big group of people in the regions who didn't receive their salaries for a whole year and cannot buy the medicine they need," Gennady Onishenko, chief state sanitary physician, told a news conference. This is another important prayer need.
In spite of all financial difficulties our church is growing and doing pretty well. We continue to hold successful evangelistic meetings in the hospital where we can pray salvation prayer with several persons every week. In October there were more then 20 people responded an altar call.
Praise the Lord!
God has opened a door for us to preach the Gospel in a small city of Skhodnya. We held 2 meetings there so far.
One of our needs is to buy a van or a car.
We also may have an opportunity to start an anti-abortion ministry. Would you please pray for these needs.
Brother Igor has left for his mission field and is ministering in
Uzbekistan for almost a month. He called us once and very briefly told that everything is fine. He couldn't tell anything else because special police is chasing all Christian leaders and they have to minister underground. Brother Igor as well as all our church want to thank all Christians in America who donated for Uzbekistan's mission.
We also appreciate so very much all your prayer support. It makes a difference!
