OCTOBER RUSSIAN MINISTRY NEWS LETTER

Dear friends!
Let me tell you a little bit about our latest news.
Economic situation unfortunately is bad. Many people have lost their jobs, dollar is almost 3 times higher than it was before the crisis. Prices are constantly raising up. The first shock has already gone and people are trying to adjust to this situation.
Labor leaders predicted increasing unrest in Russia, where masses of unpaid workers are bearing the brunt of a spiraling economic crisis. Russia's largest national labor union and opposition leaders have planned a massive peaceful protest marches for the beginning of October, but warned that they may not be able to control their followers if the economic slide continues.
President Boris Yeltsin told his interior minister to take measures to prevent "attempts to blow up the situation."
Mikhail Shmakov, leader of Russia's Federation of Independent Trade Unions, told a news conference on Thursday that in the months since his organization planned its October protest actions the situation for workers in the country had worsened "beyond our most horrible dreams." "More and more firms are closing. Even those firms that were working well are beginning to withhold wages," he said.
Asked if the October actions could turn explosive, he said simply: "They might, they might."
So, this is one of the most urgent prayer needs as well as a need for wisdom from above to stabilize the economic and political situation.
Last Sunday 27th of September we had a joint meeting of 6 churches in Likino. It was good! In spite of all the economic turmoil our Christians are confessing their faith and stand against fears, worries and troubles.
Brother Igor who wants to go to Uzbekistan mission field is impatient and ready to go. I have to even calm him down a little bit. Anyway he is leaving very soon.
Another good news is starting a new congregation in Moscow area. As we received your prayerful and financial support, we are enabled to do more for the glory of God!
My personal news: Myself, my wife and one Christian family from Orisona went to Saint Petersburg and spent very good 3 days there. Praise God for His refreshment!
My 2 years old daughter Victoria has some health problems. So I would ask you to pray for her as well as for my whole family. Another prayer need is a purchasing a van- we really need it instead of my old rusty car.
Thanks a lot for your prayers- they make things possible here! Praise be to the Lord!!
If you feel God's leading, you can make financial contributions through JFR ministries. Either one-time gifts or on-going support will be greatly appreciated. All contributions of course are fully ax-deductible. Of course Christians in Russia will be blessed by whatever you can give but God will also bless those who are assisting.
I also want to ask you to share this newsletter as well as my email address (REVIVAL@CENTRO.RU) with other Christians.
God bless you!

Andrew Blinkov
