ASS - Ash The Ash (Fraxinus excelsior), with its deep roots and thick, strong branches, was used as a representative of the Cosmic Tree, whose roots penetrated down into the Lower and Under worlds and whose branches reached up into the Upper worlds, thus connecting all realms of existence. So shamans regarded the Ash, like its associated ASS, as a key to understanding the holistic nature of the Universe and comprehending how the physical and the spiritual are connected and how what is 'hidden' in the invisible will come into manifestation and find expression. So the Ash, as with ASS, is a link between the inner and outer and can teach us how to have a correct relationship with the Earth by being well grounded and practical. Being in the presence of an Ash tree and meditating on the ASS-Rune will help calm the mind and sharpen the awareness so that thought-patterns come more into harmony with your spiritual nature. Since wood of the Ash tree is tough and elastic, shamans also associate the tree with the qualities of resilience and endurance. |
