EH - Ivy Ivy (Hedera helix) is a tenacious creeper which spirals its way towards the light. It has both a positive and a negative aspect, for it was regarded as an emblem of regeneration and both a bringer of death to some trees. Ivy is female and is frequently paired with Holly, which is male. Ivy pushes itself between cracks and crevices and is symbolic of soul searching and the way that conscious awareness during shamanic journeys is able to push through the cracks between dimensions of existence so that non-ordinary realities can be experienced. Ivy is associated with forward vision and with perception that goes beyond what is immediately to hand. Ivy is associated with the EH-Rune, which is concerned with exploration and fresh experiences through which further development can take place. Ivy's energy is that of the wanderer who must impart some of his substance to wherever he passes, and absorb also something of what each place has to impart. |
