FEH - Elder In the British Isles and northern Europe in former times, the Elderberry tree (Sambucus nigra) was associated with fairies, and there was an old wives' tale that if you slept under the branches of an Elderberry tree on Midsummer's Day you might see the King of the Fairies! This was because shamans associated the Elder tree with the spiralling Life-force at a cusp where dimensions merge - like twilight in the daily cycle and Halloween in the yearly cycle. In other words, it indicated where one sequence ended and another was about to begin. |
