TYR - Holly Holly (Ilex aquifolium) is an evergreen whose leaves are soft in summer and hard with protective spikes in winter, when the tree bears its fruit and is likely to be attacked by browsing animals. In former times its wood was used by some tribes for making spear shafts so, like the Rune TYR, it is associated with the battles of life, with courage, and with eventual victory over malevolent forces. Holly enhances the qualities of masculine potency and drive. Its qualities are vigour and aggressiveness, direct action and balanced judgment. It stresses the power in the moment - the need to accept the reality that is now, and to learn from it. |
