THURS - Blackthorn The dense and thorny Blackthorn (Prunus spinosa) is also known as the sloe tree - its black fruits, which ripen after the first frosts of winter, are often used to make sloe-gin, a potent wine. In olden times its branches were used to make staves and for fighting sticks as a protection against attack. So Blackthorn, like THURS with which it is associated, is concerned with the strength to cope with unexpected and sometimes inescapable happenings, and as a help when disruptive influences are at work. It helps also to strengthen the quality of persistence during periods of patient waiting for new opportunities to develop and to reach fruition. |
