Question Box from RA Breuer Association Meeting What is the oldest Lodge in our District? Answer: The follow is reported by our DDGM from the Kiel Book of 1925. "Record has been found of 14 Masonic Lodges in Franklin County from 1847 to date. Of these six are now defunct and eight are active. From a large collection of records made for the proposed history of Franklin County, the following list of Lodges is compiled in order of the institution and this list show the name, the number, the location and the time during which it held a charter.

1. Olive Branch 88 Union, Oct. 12 1847 to 1855.
2. Martha Washington 46, Washington, June 10, 1853 to May 1863.
3. Pacific 159, Pacific, May 28, 1856 to January 1878.
4. Evergreen 27, New Haven, May 26, 1864 to date.
5. Sullivan 69, Sullivan, May 28, 1866 to date.
6. Union 173, Union, Oct. 19, 1867 to March 1892.
7. Cedar 37, Shotwell, Oct 15, 1868 to January 1900 Moved to Gasconade County in 1877.
8. Hope 251, Washington, Oct. 15, 1868 to date.
9. Fraternal 363, Robertsville, Oct. 13, 1870 to date.
10. Columbia 534, Pacific, Oct. 12, 1887 to date.
11. Frankling 541, St. Clair, Oct. 16, 1889 to July 1904.
12. Gray Summit 173, Sray Summit, Feb. 6, 1903 to date.

Note Hermann and Owensville are in Gasconade County
17. At Grand Lodge in 2000 the 32nd. Masonic District was enlarged with the addition of Linn and Chamois Lodges, the name was then changed to the 24th Masonic District.
Webmaster note of the above "to date" Lodges only Evergreen is not active. They merged with Hope Lodge in 1994.
