Ford Madox Ford, The Good Soldier, and the heart
I collected some information to flesh out a presentation I gave on this particular work. This is for those of you who may not be familiar with Ford Madox Ford or The Good Soldier.
I have used the Norton Critical Edition for my research and discussion. Edited by Martin Stannard, copyright 1995, this edition brings together several versions of the work, as well as contemporary reviews, essays on style by Ford himself, and critical commentary.
For an HTML version of The Good Soldier, check out this site. The differences between this version and the one I used don't really change my discussion.
The following link is excerpted from Vincent J. Cheng's essay "A Chronology of The Good Soldier which I have taken from the Norton Critical Edition (pages 386-388), but which originally appeared in English Language Notes 24, September 1986, pages 91-97. The page numbers in brackets below refer to the Norton Critical Edition. Do not go to this page unless you don't mind having the book at least partially ruined for a first reading. Chronology.

Here is my bibliography.
Here are the excerpts I used in my presentation. I'd hand out the whole book if I could (and after Mann, reading Ford is a mere moment's work) but I can't so here is the next best thing I can do.
