"Please Lizzie. You have to help me. I promised the Unicorns that a
story on the unicorns would be up in the Sixers." Jessica Wakefield
begged.
"Well, I could put up a very short story on the unicorns but, you
have to write the story." Elizabeth Wakefield pointed at Jessica.
"Well, alright. I will. But you have to promise to put up a story on
the unicorns.'
Elizabeth nodded her head. A few hours later, Jessica emerged with a
paper in her hand. "Read it," Jessica ordered. Elizabeth read a few
sentences and said, "Jess, this story's brilliant!"
Jessica looked proudly at Elizabeth and said, "I knew I could make up
a story."
Suddenly, an idea struck Elizabeth. "You know, the sixers is going to
put up a story section but we have on one to write the stories. Could
you do it?"
Jessica made a face. "No way. I mean, the idea of writing stories and
having them published is cool but working in an office full of nerds is
well, icky."
Elizabeth sighed and said, "Well, I guess you'll be letting the
Unicorns down."
Jessica put her hands on her hips. "Hey, what's that suppose to mean,
Lizzie?" She demanded. "Oh, you mean you won't print my story? Well, I
can always ask someone else."
Elizabeth sighed two more times before she said, "Don't yo know that
on one can print the paper until the editor has taken a look?"
"Oh, okay. I'll write the paper." Jessica raised her hands as if to
show she was defeated, which was true.
The next day, Jessica studiously wrote a story about two cool and
hip guys falling for the same girl.
"To be continued...." Jessica typed. She printed it out and showed it
to Penny.
"Great work, Jess. You're the best."
Jessica beamed at Penny's compliment.
When the paper was printed, all the copies were snapped up. everyone
was talking about the story. They were also talking about Jessica and
the way she wrote the story.
When she got to the unicorner, Janet was looking angry.
"Jessica, your story has given the unicorns a boost but we look like
dweebs since you joined the sixers. We've decided that either you
choose the sixers or us."
Usually, there would have been no competition between that kind of
questions but even though Jessica had just joined the sixer for the
first day, she felt attatched to it. she had liked the way everyone
whom she had met raised her and asked her about the story and what
would have happened next.
"Well," Janet asked.
"I have to think about it first." Jessica hastily got up from her
seat and left. But before that, she heard Ellen call out, "You have two
weeks to decide."
Two weeks, Jessica thought, long enough. Then she left and cried.
