Sweet Valley is a town in California, where two beautiful blonde-haired twins and their friends live. The twins' names are Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield, and they live with their parents, Ned and Alice Wakefield, and their brother Steven Wakefield. The twins both have long blonde hair, blue-green eyes and tiny dimples in their left cheeks.
Even though Jess and Liz look identical, their personalities couldn't be more different. Liz is the quiet, studious, serious twin. She was older by four minutes, but, as she said, it sometimes seemed like four years. She was responsible, reliable, considerate, and a good listener. She knew how to have fun just as well as Jess, but fun for her meant being with her friends, Julie Porter and Amy Sutton, or reading a good book. She planned to be a reporter when she grew up, so she was proud of her position as editor of the Sixers, the sixth-grade newspaper.
Jess, on the other hand, was the popular, adventurous, boy- crazy, live-for-the-moment twin. She's quite a genius at scheming (after reading a few books, you'll know), but more often than not, her schemes backfire. She hated dogs, school and home- work. For her, school was a place to meet her friends and hang out with the guys. She is a great cheerleader, however, and she is co-captain of the Boosters, Sweet Valley Middle School's cheerleading squad. She loves acting and plans to become an actress when she grows up. She also adores Johnny Buck, a teen singer, and enjoyed shopping sprees at the mall with her best friend, Lila Fowler. She is a member of the Unicorn Club, an exclusive club made out of sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade girls who considered themselves the prettiest and most popular girls at SVMS. Elizabeth, however, doesn't have high opinions of the Unicorns. She says that they talk about nothing else but boys, makeup and clothes, and calls them the Snob Squad. Jessica, in turn, says that Elizabeth's friends are nerdy. But in spite of their differences, Jess and Liz are the best of friends, and they shared a special bond only twins can share.
