"Can you bind the cluster of the Pleiades, or loose the belt of Orion? Can you bring out Mazzaroth in it's season? Or can you guide the Great Bear with it's cubs? Do you know the ordinances of the heavens? Can you set their dominion over the earth?" Job 38:31-33

"Mazzaroth" The ancient word for Zodiac.

Please Note
As with all my pages, this information is here to start you thinking outside the box. I believe that this information holds to the Truth (I wouldn't put it here if I didn't), but that is my opinion. It is for you alone to decide whether you accept it as fact or not!

The Ancients believed (as people do now) that the stars or "Zodiac" could tell our future.
The aim of this area is to explore the ancient star names to see if we too can decipher the mystery of the MAZZAROTH.
First let me state that this is NOT condoning modern astrology!! The Bible clearly states that divination in any shape or form is witchcraft and not to be entered into! Also note the following verse...
"And beware lest you life up your eyes to heaven and when you see the sun and the moon and the stars, all the host of heaven, you be drawn away and worship them and serve them, things which the Lord your God has allotted to all the peoples under heaven".(Deut. 4.19)

The names of the stars and constellations have changed little in the past millennia when looking at the names along with those of the same constellation we can see that a "story" is told.
Who named the stars? Apart from the more modern constellation, which I am ignoring, no one really knows.
Jewish historian Josephus records that it was commonly held in his time, that Seth, the son of Adam, was responsible for naming the Zodiac, (or Mazzaroth.)
However the bible records
"He counts the stars and calls them all by name" (Psalm 147:4) and "Look up into the heavens. Who created all the stars? He brings them out one after another, calling each by name. And He counts them all to see that none are lost or have strayed away." (Is 40:26) New Living Bible

I have listed a title along with the name of the constellation and the names of the stars. The title, meaning and commentary are mine to help clarify things and I will be adding verses from the Bible to help you grasp the parallels there.

Remember that this is here for you to look at and draw your own conclusions from!

But where to start, the signs are arranged in a circular form, no beginning and no end... Or is there a starting point after all...

The Mystery of The Sphinx: In the Zodiac in the temple of Esneh, in Egypt, a Sphinx is actually placed between the signs of Virgo and Leo (Picture below). The Sphinx being the head of a person and the body of a lion.
I have not gone in to this in depth but all will be revealed when the pyramid section is up and running.

Now I do not wish to completely re-write a book on the subject as there are a number of good books on the subject, but if you are anything like me, you tend to skim across a lot of articles and save the ones you want to look at (and often never get back to them)
What I have done is really summarised some of the books that I enjoy on this subject to give the basic facts. If you are interested there is a list of books at the end of this page that cover this subject in depth.
For ease I have followed Bullinger's format by splitting the Constellations into "Books" and "Chapters". Each of the 3 Books has 4 Chapters. (These are the natural breaks) Each main Constellation has 4 minor constellations called Decans that are linked to it.

BOOK ONE: THE REDEEMER. (His First Coming)
BOOK TWO: THE REDEEMED. (The Result Of The Redeemer’s Suffering)
BOOK THREE: THE REDEEMER. (Second coming)
