RITE FOR LITHA Calendar time: Sun has just entered Cancer + a few minutes to a few days. Recommended velocia or planetary time: High Noon, and the first velocia of Fire occurring thereafter. Color charges, tools, special notes: Colors ought to be festive, predominating in Solar colors (surprise!), but gold and yellow in most abundance. Incense is made from traditional materials, but is blended heavily towards the cinnamon side of things. It is burned in the largest (perhaps swinging) censer used in the rites. Noise-makers, gongs and drums ought to be present --gamelon ensemble, anyone? Place from which to start: The center of the Glyph, (point of the Sun). Method of circumambulation: Circular, starting in the center, moving to Saturn, then 'round the rim, visiting Jupiter, Venus, Luna, Mercury, Mars before returning to Saturn and winding back into the Sun. If the number of persons attending make such a thing impossible, a smaller Glyph is constructed and tied to the larger via the usual methods involved with forming a magickal link. i. Voice#1: Gives impromptu speech to those assembled and all to face the direction of the sun. Voice#2: gives the A.S. Sun Salutation. Voice#3: "We are met this day to bid the Sun strength on its journey! Such is our pleasure and our duty as Magicians of the Glyph! Ours is a task brought forth from our hearts that the heart of our world would share its radiance, and gladly do we do this." Voice#4 "We praise the names of those who have gone before us and who inspire our efforts in our own time--we praise the names of those who are yet to come." Invocation: "We would pass through the veil of the Shining Light to accomplish the works of Tipareth. With highest mind and with all our being we would raise our inward gaze to the divine vitality in the Sphere of the Sun, ever more clearly to know and to apprehend that effulgent glory." ii. (Battery: 6--becoming faster and louder with each beat) Cense with solar mix. Invocation #2 : "Shining Prince of the New Day!--through thine all-giving and most potent gaze we are wrought of star-fire, and kin to the glories beyond the spheres. Thine is the measure of Time and thine to bestow are the gifts that outpass Time: delight of life, rapture of life renewed! Thou art the Love which illuminates our love and the beauty which shines forth in the beauty of every being. Thou art present in all: yet now above all and apart from all we invoke thy glorious power. O thou who art ruler of the orb of Shemesh, thou triumphant hero who dwellest in the delightsome palace of Ratzon; thou whose own heaven is many-hued Zabul, the wide region which is the resplendent dwelling of thy glory: now in thy great excellence, that we may partake in the wonder-working beneficence of thy rays, open here the luminous gates of thy sphere!" iii. Voice #1: "In the past we have given the time of our lives and the labor of our hands, our hearts and our minds that this Great and Sacred Construct of Tipareth, of Balance and of Harmony may live and dwell in its full beneficent force here in this place. We have walked the lines of Nature's palm, made oblations and given gifts unto the Temples of the Elder Gods, and this we will do again, for we are the Magicians of the Glyph in this day." (Cense) iv. (The Key is now brought out and revealed, held high.) Voice: #2: "This, the height of the Glyph's strength is come! This, the key of that resplendent glory that is the pride of our endeavor calls to its children struck from the selfsame material long ago. It calls them from the scattered temples of Saturn--" (battery=3) "--from Venus--" (battery=7) "--from Mercury--" (battery=8) "--from Luna--" (battery=9) "--from Mars" (battery=5) "--and from Jupiter" (battery=4). "We call it all to dance!" (battery=1) All: "Dance!" (Battery=1) All: "Dance" (etc., until six pairs of battery-shouts are reached. Voice #5 holds up hand to stop chant.) v. Voice#5: "Welcome the tide of Growth, of nurture-- Tempus Messis. May our fortunes double and our lives be enriched!" All: "Let it be." (The Key is replaced in its box.) Voice #1: "Hail, hail the bringer of balance, harmony and warmth! Oh, thou most singular all-father, extend thy light that we may see but dim thy glory that we be not blinded. Reveal yourself, that we may behold the golden splendor that lies at the heart of your being and ours! To thee we give our gratitude! Ever may the effulgent flame of Tipareth illumine the sanctuaries of the Glyph. Ever may its reverberation in Zabul be heard, bestowing upon us the most sacred gifts of magickal dedication, the high ecstasies of Beauty and the true bounty of Harmony. " All: Huzzahs and noise-making. (Finish with the battery: 3-5-3)
