BELTANE/VENUS SEX MAGICK

Calendar time: May 1st, or soon thereafter.

Recommended velocia or planetary time: None specified.

Color charges, tools, special notes: The space ought to be charged with the color green
set off with red. Participants wanting a specific color charge for themselves could be
counseled to determine their general gender orientation and bedeck themselves accordingly,
green for female, red for male. Growing and budding plants are welcome, as are roses and
their petals. Each celebrant will have brought appropriate token objects from the points of
the Greater Glyph, while the key will also have been brought, wrapped in yellow silk. If the
elixirs of the Planets [as in the rites of Planetary Magick] are used in any capacity by the
group, these too are present--if not, a sweet white wine (or champagne) is brought, along
with enough cups to go around. Lastly, a fire-proof box (ours is labeled "please return
this to the Glyph Magicians,." as we don't wish to lose it) containing charcoals, matches,
an appropriate incense burner and the particular blend typically used for workings of Venus,
usually sandalwood and myrtle.

Place from which to start/method of circumambulation: No circumambulation is required for this
rite, which may be held either upon the glyph or in a remote locale. If held upon the glyph, the
point of Venus (or as near to it as decency and privacy will allow) is most appropriate, of course.

Other materials: A token gathered from each planetary point of the glyph.
Circumstances may require that a tent be utilized.

				i.

All participants pile their tokens in the center and stand about them, facing inward. Lots are
drawn for the speaking parts.

Voice #1: "Another year, another festival of fire."

Voice #2: "Beltane! May Day!"

voice #3: "Hail the Queen of the May!"

All: "Hail the Queen of the May!"

(The wine is opened and poured 'round to all participants, the last serving
offered upon the ground, just east of the circle's edge. Incense is kindled--just a
bit, not a great deal.)

Voice#4: "Again we give life to the Glyph, the work of our hands, by doing
honor in the name of the lovely star!

Voice#5: "Aphrodite!"

Voice#6: "Venus!"

Voice#1: "Yea, even 'Lucifer' she has been called:
                                           'Contender of the Sun'."

Voice#2: "Hail to thee, Morning Light, Bringer of Life, Stirrer of Seed!"
	(raises glasses high in toast.)

All: "Hail to thee!

(Battery: 7, perhaps expressed as 6 + 1 )

					ii.

(The token of Venus is placed at that point designated for it, followed by
that of Mercury, then Saturn. The token is simply carried from the center and
placed in position. Arrange it such that these tokens are easy to find in a hurry,
possibly in the dark. If a tent is used, these should be placed outside of it, just
prior to the actual pitching of the tent. One triangle being complete, the tokens
for Mars, Jupiter and Luna are next placed) .

Voice#6: "Thus is our temple constructed. May our pleasure given one unto another
here be given also unto the Glyph"

All: "Unto the Glyph!"

(If there is a tent in this scenario, it is now constructed and decorated appropriately.
If not, the space is suitably decorated and fitted with whatever furnishings might be
required--which might even be a stout tarp, if the weather is typical. It might have a
sign warning that it is a private space for the use of certain individuals. Sweet music
can be played during the sequence, preferably by one or two designated musicians.)

					iii.

Voice#4:	"Aye! Let this lesser vessel of our magick be joined to that greater vehicle
that lies over these hills and far away. Let it send its living breath and vital force
upon the wings of Mercury from these very stones to the place of their dwelling but
days ago. Let the seeds planted here take root in their home soil."

Voice#5: "And if the distance be too great for our Art, know that as we return
these wandering children to their abodes at their chosen temples, so too
will their life rejoin our work in that place."

					iv.

Voice#3: "Ours is a task enjoined of our desire, and gladly do we lust for its completion."

(Toast)

"We praise the names of those who have gone before us and who inspire our efforts in
our own time--we praise the names of those who are yet to come. We give praise unto
the Goddess of Love, Life and the Spring of the year, bringer of poesy madness,
maker of fools & friend to the Wise! Bring our efforts, be they the sacred fruits of our
loins or the life of our fields into stirring ardor, and likewise the life of our Glyph."

				v.

Voice #1: "Is it done?"

Voice#2: "It is done."

(The last toast is made. Each person makes an ad lib toast, stating the
certainty of the bounty of the coming year. The dregs are drained at the edges of
the circle.)

(Battery 3-5-3)

The place now made sacred to Venus can quite handily be used at the discretion of the
participants for rites of sex magick, realizing that the energy raised thus is intended to
fuel the Glyph to which the place is tied in spiritu. This being the case, it is vital to use
and energizing exercise, such as the Clavis Rei, form 1 or the Middle Pillar exercise
immediately afterwards to reestablish individual balance and to combat fatigue.
