Elemental study 1

As I write this, I feel a sturdy and brilliant tingle of light throughout my being, on par with a Reiki attunement or a more effective charging via the Clavis Rei. Last time I was this clear, I was doing some Enochian (I think--gotta check) magick that left me with a particular vibrancy and awareness.

I began my study of the subject of this paper by positing that if one were going to work magick of an elemental nature, one ought to be able to involve the Glyph with that--after all, the planets are all assigned to the elements in various ways, are they not? I began with a simple series of ideas and evolve them below along the exact lines in which (at least in my mind) the seemed to evolve naturally. Many, many variations on these themes are possible, of course.

Firstly note how the Planets and the elements are so corresponded:

Satrun . . . Earth

Jupiter . . . Water

Mars . .. Fire

Sun . . .Air

Venus . . .Fire

Mercury . . . water

Moon . . . Air

Odd man out is Earth, which we can assume is attributed to, well--Earth. Since the basic idea is to charge the glyph in Assiah or Yetzirah in connection with the rite such that it's force can be brought to bear upon the operation, let's look at these in approximate formation:

After fiddling with the various lines and angles presented here for a few moments alone, I have discovered a relationship. I began by drawing a ray emanating from the lightest element and drew it to the heaviest in no special way of which I was aware. Since earth is only represented once in the figure, it seemed logical to have the rays converge there, perhaps even to pass out of the figure into some materium (such as a Lesser Glyph) which would represent the earth missing in the figure figure below.

This very neatly completes the idea of the figure in the heavens conspiring to send it's benificence unto the ground*. I just now noted that we've created two lines which neatly track through the figure such that predominantly "feminine" planets-- Mercury. Venus, Luna lie on one track, and predominantly masculine planets (jupiter, sol, mars) lie on the other. These paths terminate in Saturn which might easily be seen as androgenous in character (as might most planets, after one fashion or another. Mercury and the Sun come foremost to mind, tho'.) I concocted the other diagrams for the rest of the elements in the same manner before proceeding. I give the diagram of rays for the element of Water for clarity. Note that it, like all the other similar figures, it has a ray which involves the female planets and one which involves the male:

Well, it wasn't long after that that I asked myself: What good is this? I thought it desirable to draw up a collection of sigils that could be used in connection with elemental rites and which would also serve as mnemonic reminders of how the Glyph might be envisioned/perambulated in connection therewith. I first created the Sigil of Earth (the illo above the one which is immediately above this paragraph), then tracked through each element, rendering it in the classic sigil-drawing method. The sigil begins at the circle, ends at the cross (T) and may or may not have another loop where a point has been passed over twice. The first figure then, that of Earth, is this:

Note the part of the figure in the lower right. That position (Saturn) is both the terminus for both lines (hence the need for a cross to mark that) and a point which they share (hence the loop). The result is quite like one of the usual symbols for the element of Earth. This doesn't happen in the other permutations of the sigil I researched this night.

I proceeded to the figure for Water next. BTW, I reasoned that the lines must be drawn unto the element for which the figure was designed/named and so used the same ordering of the elements (Earth-Water-Air-Fire and/or the reverse) in each figure, merely winding up in the desired element, the figure yet being composed of a feminine line (passing thru Venus. Moon and Mercury and a masculine line (passing thru Jupiter Mars, Sun) Saturn being shared by both lines (as it is the only evidence of earth in this figure).

This next figure is that of water:

Now that of Fire:

And Air:

Obviously, the next thing to do would be tosee what they looked like combined in various ways, so I set about to layering them upon each other in the order in which they were presented by their necessity. The first two figures, once superimposed one upon the other, looked like this:

When I went to layer the next one into this ensemble, I soon noticed that the design did not change, and neither did it change when I layered the next one on. Even as I beheld thie figure thus made, I note that any combination of these figures produces the identical result. Balance indeed!

*Wow....another idea. If we are creating a generator of sorts (or battery) I find it bloody interesting that it is designed with an deficiency of Earth. The electronic parallels should be obvious here and makes me wonder if maybe the glyph could not be charged up in various ways while the Key or some similar, temporary, physical representative could be placed in the precise physical or astral location where the force might most effectively descend. I see 1) a rite to dedicate such a Key, followed by 2) it's placing, then 3) the charging/discharging of this circuit. We charge, of course, with the spirit of Harmony, Beauty...but a fool might see where such an operation might be put to "evil" or "good" use and therby needlessly darken his karma with his misguided efforts. This is a harmony machine...an harmonica? Harmonichum? -crum?
