The North Mississippi Historical Society was founded in 1997 to research, preserve, and interpret the environmental, cultural, architectural, and personal history of North and Northeast Minneapolis, Minnesota.
North and Northeast Minneapolis, Minnesota has a rich history, Saw mills,
Brick yards, Tractor manufactories, Ect. The history of the area is not widely known, though.
The North Mississippi Historical Society will identify historic sites important to both Camden and the Northwestern metro area in general, through archeological digs and research. We will offer programing that emphasizes the contribution North and Northeast Minneapolis and the river have made to our city and state.
We will do this by using the proposed Cultural center at the North Mississippi Regional Park, it will be used to house historical displays and provide interpretive activities to show how the land was used for industrial purposes, and how nature is reclaiming the land.
