3. Compare the structure
of the Mexican government to the structure of
the United
States government. You must include name of country, type
of
government, leadership structure
and the branches of government.
You should
include any other information you believe is important to help
the group
best understand the similarities and differences between the
United
States government and the Mexican government.
Response: Each group member will write an essay response to
include
all of the information requested here and as a group construct
graphic
organizers which will be used to share the information in your
oral
final report presentation to the Cultural Advisory Group.
4. Where should the company
locate its new Mexican business,
to the
city of Puebla or to the adjoining cities of Ixtapa-Zihuataneho?
You are
to research both cities, finding out as much as you can about
each.
You are then to present your information in a comparative
format
to the Cultural Advisory Group with a recommendation from
your
small group. The Cultural Advisory Group will then make a
recommendation
(based on your presentation) to the Financial Advisory
Group.
Be sure to include information about geography, education,
weather,
entertainment, crime concerns, transportation, etc.
Response: Each group member will write an essay response to
include
all of the information requested here and as a group construct
graphic
organizers (to help the Cultural Advisory Group to visualize
the comparisons
you have made between Puebla and
Ixtapa-Zihuataneho)
which will be used to share the information in your
oral
final report presentation to the Cultural Advisory Group. Finally, as a
group,
prepare a recommendation to the Cultural Advisory Group on
which
location you think the company should choose and why.
5. Flags and Money
a. When
you learned about Betsy Ross and the making of the United
States flag, you learned that each stripe and each star meant
something special. Tell what each part of the Mexican flag
means
and summarize the history of the flag. What might you infer about
Mexico from this information? Include information on the state flags
of
Puebla and Guerrero, also.
Response: Draw a color picture of the Mexican Flag on a wall
chart and write the meaning of each part next to it, connecting the part
to the meaning with a line. Summarize the history of the Mexican
flag at the bottom of the chart. Draw color pictures of the Puebla and
Guerrero state flags on another wall chart. This information will
be
shared in your oral final report presentation to the Cultural Advisory
Group.
b. What
form of monetary currency will employees be using when they
move to Mexico?
Provide pictures of all commonly used coins and
bills and label them with their names. To help employees to quickly
develop an understanding of the current exchange rate, provide a list
of fifteen items, half of which could be purchased at a grocery store
and half of which could be purchased at a discount store (Wal-Mart).
Response: Construct a chart with labeled pictures of all
commonly used coins and bills from Mexican currency. Construct a
second chart listing the grocery and other items with their approximate
prices in Mexican currency and in United States currency. This
information will be shared in your oral final report presentation to the
Cultural Advisory Group.
6. Identify at least four
of the major holiday celebrations of the
Mexican
people and tell why and how they celebrate those holidays? Try
to find
out if there is special music or dances connected with any of
these
holidays and describe those as much as possible. One section of
your
report will be for sharing any information you found out about
Mexican
music or dance. (If you have examples on websites, those can
be share
during your presentation.) If you can find examples of music or
dances,
be sure to bookmark those sites and cite the website in your
response.
Response: Each group member will write an essay response to
include
all of the information requested here and provide a visual (may
include
audio) representation of your work for the final report to the
Cultural
Advisory Group.
