The Forum

The forum is the centerel town life.  The largest buildings were the basilicas where legal cases were held.  Rome's population got bigger and bigger and the forum became too small so in 46 BC Julius Caesar built a new one.
Basilica Julia
There is a part in the forum called the Basilica Julia named after Julius Caesar.  It was began by him in 54 BC and fineshed after his death by his great nephew Augustus.  It was dameged by a fire almost imediately in 9 AD but it was repared and dedicated to the emperor's grandsons Gaius and Lucius.

The forum of Augustus was ment to celerbrate
his victory over Julius Caesar's assenses.
