Gauguin was born in 1848 and died in 1903. He was born in Paris.
His work was influenced by Pissarro, who he worked with in 1879 and 1881.
In 1891 he left Paris to work in Tahiti, where many of his famous paintings
were produced. He went back to Paris in 1893, but in 1894 he went
back to the south seas, and in 1901 he moved to the Marquesas Islands where
he died.
