BAGRUT EXTENSIVE READING PROGRAM

 
(BOOK TASKS)

To pass the Bagrut, you must read 5 books. These can be regular books or “stage” books. Pick a book that interests you and that you can read easily. For each book you read, do a book task. Your teacher will decide if you are to do the book tasks in class or at home.

Here is a list of book tasks that you can do.

List of Book Tasks
    Book Tasks with little writing:
  1. Draw a series of pictures or write a comic based on the story you have read.


  2. Write a song or a poem about the book.

  3. Draw a map showing where the story takes place and write what happened in each spot.

  4. Design a jacket for the book.

  5. Make a time-line of the story.

  6. You are a teacher asked to give a test on the book. Write up the test and answer the questions.
  7. Writing Ideas for books:

  8. Write a letter to one of the characters.

  9. Write an imaginary letter or diary entry from one of the characters.

  10. Write up an interview with one of the characters discussing the events of the story. 

  11. Write a letter to the author of the book.

  12. Compare or contrast the book to another book you have read.

  13. If the book has a movie version, compare the book to the movie version.

  14. Write a continuation of the story.

  15. Make up a different ending to the story.

  16. Does the story have any conflicts? Tell how the conflict was resolved.

  17. Put yourself in the place of one of the characters and say how you would have acted under similar circumstances.

  18. Write a newspaper article based on the book, or on an event from the book.

  19. Write a short play based on an event in the book.

  20. Describe which characters you liked best and which you liked least and why.

  21. Was the book "educational"? Was it trying to teach certain values?
        Was it criticizing anything about society?
  22. Did you agree or disagree with the message that the author was trying to convey?

  23. Write a book review of the book for a newspaper.

  24. Write about  things in the story that could/could not happen in real life.

  25. Put yourself in the place of one of the characters and write about how you would have acted.

  26. Do some research related to the subject of the book - for example, something about the period of time or the country in which the story  takes place.
