Kyra
Lober embodies her work. She was a
dancer and choreographer who began her training in the womb. Her
parents danced on Broadway and she continued her training at New York's
High School of Performing Arts. Kyra has a B.A. and M.A. in Dance from the University
of California at Los Angeles where she also
received a Rockefeller Foundation Grant in Choreography for her
participation in the Graduate Dance Center.
She later became
a solo performer and formed a company, Tav, New Music and
Dance, with Canada's top percussionist, Bob
Becker. As a young choreographer, Kyra
also choreographed
for other dance companies such as New York's
Joffrey Ballet II and Toronto's Dancemakers.
All of life has some rainy periods and every cloud a silver lining. Kyra became ill; she contracted rheumatoid arthritis at age 29, a disease which affects primarily women in the early twenties through fifty's. In the process of healing she tried everything. She explored emotional, physical, energetic, nutritional and spiritual approaches in order to find what worked for her. She got well...and still dances.
Kyra Lober became a certified teacher and practitioner
of Body-Mind Centering®, a somatic approach to movement repatterning
which improves posture and physical alignment as it alleviates chronic
and acute trauma, stress and learning disabilities. She trained with
Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais in the last years of his life and is an
authorized teacher of Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement. She is also a certified CranioSacral Therapist. CranioSacral therapy is an osteopathic
approach which utilizes energy and subtle facilitations particularly of the bones
of the cranium and spinal cord. Kyra's more recent studies are in the Brain Curriculuum, working directly on neuro pathways to alleviate post-traumatic stress and other neurological issues and in energy merridians integrate well with her approach to Body Being & Heart. Her specialty is working with the nadii and chakras to create wellness in all aspects of ourselves. Her approach creates extraordinary results which move beyond conventional expectations.
Kyra has
travelled extensively following her
spiritual path and has studied many psycho-spiritual approaches to therapy. She has also explored crystals and
energy healing as part of her personal research. During this time she
had various transformative experiences which heightened her intuitive
abilities. She uses these abilities to open new dimensions in healing and personal unfoldment for herself and others.
In addition to her private practice,
Kyra Lober has worked for various organizations such as CECM Community
Services, the Worker's Compensation Board in Toronto, Unitas, the Christian Retreat Center in the heart of Montreal as well at Concordia University
teaching Health Management and Experiential Anatomy. She currently
teaches Body Being & Heart
and Health Wise seminars for Vanier College Continuing Education
Program and gives lectures for the Spiritual Science
Fellowship.
Over the years Kyra has steadily
evolved Transformational Arts for Body
Being & Heart. Plans are unfolding to give a retreat in the Toronto area next Autumn. And Kyra is gathering her writtings, envisioning a book.
