| Native-Americans have given us many interesting contributions to literature and this month, we celebrate this contribution. We have read two pieces of literature from two different genres. They were: "The Lost Child" Adapted by Adam Grant and "Pushing Up the Sky" as told by Chief William Shelton. Experiencing these stories have given us a look into Native-American culture. We have used these pieces as an introduction to our next major activity, which we are currently working on. The legends of the Native-Americans began to teach us the effectiveness of storytelling. Through stories we can know cultures and travel places we've never been before. The Cinderella Webquest will allow us to continue this cultural quest as the class creates an adaptation of "Cinderella" as told by Ancient Greece. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| To celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, we worked on "A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings" by Gabriel Jose Garcia Marquez. A Colombian-born writer who creatively weaves reality with a fanciful twist to bring readersto another place. Miami Arena was our destination as we ended the week with a production of "Beauty and the Beast" on ice. The next week took a look into the world of Edgar Allen Poe. Known for his art of creating moods of bone-chilling fear and suspense, Poe has become a favorite of many. "The Tell-tale Heart", which displays his masterful art, gave us a look into the mind of this prolific writer. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
